[Presentation overview]
In human pathology, intraductal proliferative lesions of the breast have been divided into three categories conventionally, based on their cytological and architectural features: benign usual ductal hyperplasia (UDH) and atypical ductal hyperplasia (ADH) to ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), precursor or noninvasive forms. The author recently found the difference in cellular architecture between UDH and ADH/DCIS, using computerized image analysis and minimum spanning tree method of graph theory.
[Profile of the presenter]
Former lecturer at Tohoku University (Division of Pathophysiology and Organ Construction Research, Institute of Aging Medicine). medical doctor. Former Ministry of Education overseas researcher (medicine) (Aarhus University, Kingdom of Denmark).
In the field of human pathology, I have studied the pathogenesis process of diseases using geometric probability theory, quantitative morphology applying integral geometry, digital image analysis, and multivariate statistical analysis. There are research papers on liver cirrhosis, early cancer that develops in the alveolar epithelium, pancreatic duct epithelium, and endometrium, their precursor lesions, and liver metastasis ( https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/7804428/ , https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/7804429/ , https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/8402446/ , https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/8135625/ , https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/7840839/ , https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/10560494/). I am interested in mathematical methods that can be applied to the analysis of cancer development processes and their histological diagnosis, and I am particularly interested in numerical classification methods such as cluster analysis and discriminant analysis. After working with Fortran statistical subroutines on mainframes and SPSS and SYSTAT on PCs as platforms for statistical analysis, he has been a JMP user since version 8.
