Welcome to the JMP Development Update for October 28, 2022!
This has been a busy week for all as we have learned about our new cloud environments for Jira and Confluence. Huge thanks to Brian Corcoran and Audrey Shull, Shannon Leslie of the SAS Jira team, and our contractors at Clearvision who provided migration assistance and training to get us transitioned and orient the JMP Atlassian admin team!
Audrey gave two presentations this week to highlight the migration and differences between old and new systems, and you can find Monday’s recording for Jira here and Thursday’s recording for Confluence here. (Please let me know if you have any trouble with the links – I will move a copy of each into the dev meeting folder next week.) Over the next few weeks, we will continue to update How-To pages in new Confluence to match the new UI. JMP admins will also begin to be able to consider project, workflow, and other customizations that have been on our wish list for a long time.
Although JMP 17.0 only recently went live for customers (see Duane’s update in the Tech Support section below for some early info), we’re already moving towards wrapping up work on 17.1. Today is our development String Freeze for JMP 17.1. Stringbot will run over the weekend and writers will review final new strings before handoff. It is very helpful as we kick off book translations and localized screenshot work to have this work completed. Thanks for your continued efforts to clean up and rescue strings so that we can send them out for translation!
Finally, JMP life sciences writer Tom Pedersen has put the latest draft of the new book Genomic Analysis with JMP Pro in Confluence. This book is intended to support former JMP Genomics customers as they transition to using JMP Pro for analysis of genetic marker and expression data tables. Russ says, “If you have a little time and some interest in this topic, we would greatly appreciate your taking a look and sending Tom any comments or suggestions (even small typos or suggestions are most welcome).” The team is looking for some internal feedback prior to sharing the book with interested customers. The data sets for the examples are available here if you want to follow along in JMP Pro.

JMP Development Updates
Technical Support
- Duane: It’s been quite a week in TS. We are starting to talk to customers using JMP 17 (not just the demo, too!). Please see the Tabulate results below showing the areas in which they are needing our help.
- We’ve had more activation server issues (this morning) where we were unable to access activation information. Thanks to Daniel Powell for correcting the issue.
- Additionally, CIVE is currently down. This tool is used by software admins to request JMP upgrades.
- JMP’s disconnection from SAS expands, in that work is being done to remove references to JMP from the “SAS OnDemand for Academics” site and the “how to locate your site number” page on the SAS Support site.
- Wendy and I met with both ChulHee and Bryan Yan to gather information on their teams’ interactions with the SAS Customer Engagement Center. We also wanted to learn what their needs are as we move forward. Kai has been set up to now accept phone calls via Omni-Channel in Service Cloud (Thanks, Antoine!) so he will soon be able to assist with handling some phone duty for us.
- And, as per usual, here are the TS JMP Live reports and the usual plot of case/track volume is below. Whew!

- Nick H: This week I continued working on tests for class methods as MouseBox callbacks. Adjusted the unit test framework and a unit test or two to account for the change to the JMP roaming path (JMP-12774). I also updated the JMP Dashboard Jira links to use the new Jira server. Fixed up a few other failing unit tests and worked on bug verifications as well. Continuing REACT course.
