14 June: Improving Product Reliability With Quality By Design
This seminar, will be presented in English, and live streamed, from the Copenhagen SAS office.
Our speakers, Valérie Nedbal and Torben Bygvraa Rasmussen (from NNE) will cover how to:
- Implement QbD principles from discovery through product discontinuation.
- Apply statistics to set specifications and validate measurement systems (assays).
- Utilize risk management tools to identify and prioritize potential critical process parameters.
- Identify critical process parameters and develop a functional relationship between those process parameters and your critical-to-quality attributes (CQAs) using design of experiments (DOE).
- Establish design space.
- Develop a control plan as part of a risk management strategy.
- Ensure the process is in (statistical) control and capable.

3rd Party Events:
5 May: Design of Experiments: New Challenges, Marseille (France)
Academic event. Volker will be presenting.
The “When and why?” about definitive screening designs For many good reasons, during recent years Definitive Screening Designs (DSD) have been embraced by many practitioners in industry and academia. In addition to modern design tools implementing DSDs, analysis techniques allow to estimate both main effects and second-order effects. Does it mean that this type of design became a new de-facto standard for designed experiments? One the one hand, you can learn a lot from DSDs at a minimal budget. One the other hand, limitations exist concerning the types of possible factors and the choice of models for data analysis. We demonstrate several design and analysis examples and discuss the limitations and advantages of this approach.

Explorers webinars
June 7 (May 25 DACH): Get new process optimisation right the first time with DOE - NEW
June 12 : Going beyond anecdotal solutions: Utilising data to find lasting solutions to quality and yield crises - NEW
This case study will examine the challenges faced by a company which had issues with a production line every three or four months. The process cycled between good and bad quality, but operators were unable to identify the root cause of the fluctuations. During a crisis, many solutions were offered, but none worked, and the problem was eventually fixed by purging and scrapping the material in the production plant and restarting. This overhaul resulted in scheduling and supply problems. We will show how the company was able to then take existing process data to uncover what was actually going on. With this new insight, engineers gained the know-how needed to control processes to consistently produce good quality product, eliminating many scrapped batches per year and avoiding reputational damage with customers.
June 21: Predictive Modeling for Smarter Business Decision Making (moved from June 7)
Finding workable solutions - whether in research, development, or manufacturing - from prior data is sometimes difficult due to the complex, noisy, relationships between many variables that are difficult or impossible to spot ‘by eye’. This complimentary online seminar shows how to solve complex technical problems correctly first time, and in less time, by extracting powerful insights from prior data using proven and simple to use statistical modeling methods.
