Password-protecting data

I was talking to a colleague today who asked whether JMP could password protect columns of data. I know JMP can lock the entire workbook (but not password protected), and JMP can encrypt scripts. I don't believe password protecting all or part of a data table is possible. There could be some use cases for this depending on what you're trying to redistribute. What are current solutions available to the average JMP user?

There are no password protection options on JMP data tables currently. I've entered a suggestion for this and documented the Defect ID in this idea.
