The Statistical Thinking for Industrial Problem Solving (STIPS) course continues to support people – in academia and industry – who want to learn how to use statistics to make better decisions with data. In fact, STIPS has seen over 35,000 enrollments worldwide since the first modules were released in 2018.
As you might know, STIPS is currently available in four languages (English, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese Simplified), and can be taken through jmp.com or Coursera. Now, thanks to many customer requests, work on a Spanish translation is underway.

Update to STIPS Course Integration Options
Many teachers and companies use STIPS to guide their students in analytics best practices. In 2020, we created several options to better leverage STIPS content for academic and internal training programs.
Due to various factors, we need to temporarily scale back these offerings and make a few other changes. We will continue to offer access to teaching materials. However, we are pausing support for new requests for STIPS integration options. These include:
- Video links
- SCORM files
- Student activity reporting
- Company-specific activation links
Note that customers who have already signed up for one or more of these offerings will continue to be supported. So, for example, if your customer is currently receiving student activity reports, they will continue to receive these reports.
We will reassess these integration options after January 2022.
Accessing STIPS Teaching Materials
Request teaching materials (English)
Look for the Teach with STIPS box on the right side of the page
Look for the Teach with STIPS box on the right side of jmp.com/statisticalthinkingLook for the Teach with STIPS box on the right side of jmp.com/statisticalthinkingSubmissions to the request form will be routed to the appropriate sales team. Once the team verifies that the materials will be used in either an academic course or internal company training setting, the team can send the link to the customer to download the materials.
This is a great opportunity to connect with any of your customers who are engaged with STIPS, have a training department, and/or want to kickstart or supplement their own statistical training course.
The STIPS FAQs will be updated regularly and is a good source of information on the course, along with this slide deck. Please post comments if there are questions, or feel free to reach out to Mia Stephens (@mia_stephens) or Sara Doudt (@saradoudt).
Thanks for understanding!
