In the last few weeks, we've added several new assets to our JMP Resource Center, including a white paper highlighting Design Explorer in JMP 17; a book chapter on JMP for Mixed Models; an article on unit tests in JMP development; and a tech brief sharing best practices for good graph design.
Please check out these new resources, share them with your customers, post to your social media channels, and help us get the word out. You'll find more information about each below. Enjoy!
Choosing the Right Design - with an Assist from JMP's Design Explorer

In this white paper, Christine Anderson-Cook shares best practices in DOE that she's acquired while designing hundreds of experiments throughout her career as a consultant and collaborator at Virginia Tech and Los Alamos National Laboratory. Finding the right designed experiment becomes dramatically easier, Anderson-Cook argues, with JMP 17 and the introduction of Design Explorer, which provides a simple way to construct and contrast multiple designs. In this white paper, readers learn best practices for looking more broadly at multiple options for their experiments to generate a suitable suite of candidate designs to choose from. She also shows readers how to use Design Explorer, a new feature in JMP 17 that allows you to easily explore different design choices across different design criteria, number of runs, center points and replicates without having to iterate through making individual designs.

JMP for Mixed Models
In this book chapter, an excerpt from Ruth Hummel, Elizabeth Claassen and Russell Wolfinger's book JMP for Mixed Models, readers learn more about how JMP's groundbreaking philosophy of tight integration of statistics with dynamic graphics can help scientists, engineers and others revolutionize how they analyze experimental data, without the need to write code. The book chapter was used as a call to action from a recent Statistically Speaking event.

Unit Tests: Automated JSL Testing
In this article, Joseph Morgan and Xan Gregg outline how JMP uses unit testing in JMP software development. Software development practitioners use the term unit to refer to the smallest testable component of a software product and the phrase unit testing to refer to the process of validating that a unit operates as expected. Over the past twenty years, software developers have become increasingly interested in automated unit testing and the phrase unit testing framework has come to refer to the mechanism used to facilitate automated unit testing.

Top 7 Myths That Lead to Really Bad Graphs
In this tech brief, Nick Desbarats, Practical Reporting LLC, shares decades of data visualization best practices he's learned as an independent consultant and educator working with thousands of professionals in organizations like Bloomberg, the UN and NASA. Through these experiences, he noticed many important misconceptions around fundamental questions, such as: What are charts for?; What’s a “good chart”?; What makes one chart better than another?; and What does it mean to “learn data visualization”? In the brief, Nick reviews seven of the most common misconceptions or myths that people often have regarding these fundamental questions and though dispelling them, helps readers make more effective charts that are considerably easier to design.
