Mixture Design with 2 Mixtures and Process VariablesDear Team,
Need help. Dr Kannan from IIT Madras, Chemical engineering wanted to check whether JMP can solve his problem.
Problem involving 2 mixtures in a DoE study. The first mixture contains two dyes (D1 and D2) and the second mixture contains two solids (S1 and S2) and there are two process variables (P1 and P2) in addition.
Can JMP Create a design? (Can we do this in Custom Design? ).
Appreciate your input/help on this.
Thanks
Murali
Re: Mixture Design with 2 Mixtures and Process VariablesIf the situation is as Sam described (D1+D2=constant1 and S1+S2=constant2), then yes, JMP can do this. However, it is really nothing more than using factors D1 (0-1 range), S1 (0-1 range), P1, and P2. You do not need to specify D2 and S2 since they are just the remainder of the blend.
The problem does not need to be handled as a true mixture. Two component systems can be handled like mixtures, but they don't need to be because it is such a simple system.
Re: Mixture Design with 2 Mixtures and Process VariablesIs the mixture such that mixture=D1+D2+S1+S2=constant, or mixture1=D1+D2=constant1, mixture2=S1+S2=constant2?
Mixture of mixtures is useful when you have a components that are themselves a mixture, and those components are mixtures in the overall material.
Re: Mixture Design with 2 Mixtures and Process VariablesHi Murali,
Looks like your problem can be solved by applying "mixture of mixtures design"
using the custom design platform.
