Import Numbers table on the Mac (may a silly question)Just want to be sure that it is the way I expect it to be:
On a Mac I can natively import a Numbers data file into JMP right away (similar to an Excel file on Windows)? I do not have to convert it to an Excel file or something like this, correct?
Thanks for confirming.
Re: Import Numbers table on the Mac (may a silly question)That does not work directly. You would need to save the Numbers file as Excel or CSV and then import into JMP.

Re: Import Numbers table on the Mac (may a silly question)No, I don't appear to be able to open a Numbers file directly into JMP.
@hecht_jmp or @Paul_Nelson may be able to shed more light here.
Re: Import Numbers table on the Mac (may a silly question)No, it takes significant work to support external an external application's native file format. With Excel there are several thousand pages of documentation specifying the .xlsx XML format (similarly with Word's .docx format). In addition, there are commercial plugins that support processing the Excel file format. There are also open source packages to read Excel files including Python packages. If you want a Python way to access your Number's data, see https://pypi.org/project/numbers-parser
According to the page:
Numbers uses a proprietary, compressed binary format to save its tables. This format is comprised of a zip file containing images, as well as Snappy-compressed Protobuf .iwa files containing meta data, text and all other definitions used in the spreadsheet.
That being said, it would be an interesting experiment to utilize JMP's Python integration, and the numbers-parser Python package to pull the data out of the Number's file and put it into a Pandas DataFrame, from there the Pandas DataFrame can be directly accessed and made into a JMP Data table.
Re: Import Numbers table on the Mac (may a silly question)Thanks to you all, that helps - at least to know what I can say now
