All,
Please join me in welcoming Anissa Knox as JMP’s General Counsel. I am so happy that Anissa has joined JMP. As head of JMP Legal, Anissa will join the senior leadership team and, along with all of us, work to transition JMP into a strong, stand-alone organization.
There was no way I could properly communicate Anissa’s breadth and depth of experience, so the following is Anissa’s own summary of her background and some of her interests.
-------
Anissa brings with her 26 years of combined, in-house and private practice legal experience that includes client agreements, procurement, venture capital and other equity financing transactions, joint ventures and other partnering relationships, and mergers and acquisitions (M&A). Anissa has also advised and counseled companies on effective corporate structuring, governance, regulatory, and employment law matters.
Nine years after graduating from law school, Anissa recognized that her natural tendency was to dive deeper into a company’s business and operations than generally warranted by the problem-focused approach inherent in private practice. Deciding that she was best suited for an in-house environment, Anissa transitioned from private practice to a corporate setting. She has managed customer relationships, M&A and business activities as well as high-dollar litigation. Most recently while at Livingston International, Anissa addressed legal/business issues and activities across all six of Livingston’s lines of business and internal support teams. Anissa’s industry experience is quite diverse and includes global trade management, technology, high-speed racing, healthcare, food distribution, and life sciences.
Anissa received both her undergraduate and law degrees from Harvard University and is admitted to practice law in Maryland, DC, Florida, and Illinois.
When she is not working, Anissa spends most of her time with her sister, Renee. (You can see them together in the photo below.) According to Anissa, “Renee is a character and would probably tell you the fact that she is developmentally challenged may present an issue for the individuals around her, but certainly does not hold her back.”
If she is not with Renee, you can find Anissa pounding weights in the gym, curled up with a good book, binge-watching Netflix, or taking time to enjoy a new movie – but no Chick Flicks, please.
