Do you know if we can select a default setting for legend direction (either to be vertical or horizontal)? i could not find this option in the preferences.

Hi Valerie, the only thing I know is the legend position you can set to default. If bottom it will automatically use the width and put as many labels next to each other as fit into it. On the right side I do not see a default setting to change this.
One could build a short script to change the current Graph Builder Script to something that includes the LegendBox setting as below:.
Graph Builder(
Variables( Y( :Tip Amount ), Overlay( :Credit Card ) ),
Elements( Points( Y, Legend( 7 ) ) ),
SendToReport( Dispatch( {}, "400", LegendBox, {Orientation( "Horizontal" )} ) )
);
Unfortunately it seems one cannot access the setting directly, one needs to use the "Legend Settings" property to get the dialog box opened. (or at least I did not see a direct access):
