Re: Ignore Platform Preferences during an entire script - Status changed to: Needs Info@mjoner we a catching up on older wishlist requests, and have reviewed this.
In JMP 16 there is now a "Ignore Platform Preferences" message you can use with most platforms.
For the 2nd request around language localization, are you wanting to specify that JSL expressions that returned from commands be explicitly in English?
Ignore Platform Preferences during an entire scriptI would like to see something like the Ignore Platform Preferences message that could apply to an entire script - this would be something that would be run as one of the first lines of a script (similar to Names Default to Here).
While we're at it, I'd also like to see something where messages like Get Data Type or Get Modeling Type that can answer in JSL in the user's local language could be easily forced with a single line at the start of a script to also answer in English. I know this can be done on each individual call, just like Ignore Platform Preferences can, but would prefer to see the ability to require it throughout an entire script.
I know you can save the user's Platform Preferences, then reset all of them, run the script, and restore the user's preferences. However, doing this could lose the user's preferences if for any reason the script terminates early (e.g., due to error).

ScriptingRe: Ignore Platform Preferences during an entire scriptThe ask here is for something I can declare at the top of a script (similar to Names Default to Here) that will work for the entire script.
If every time I want to call a platform I have to type out Ignore Platform Preferences, or every time I try to Get Modeling Type or Get Data Type or similar I have to code in that I am planning to match the result to English words (e.g., Match(colname << Get Modeling Type()) it just feels like a lot of extra code.
Not sure whether I'm making sense but the vision would be that if I say something like Use Default Preferences Here() or Set Locale Here("english") at the top of the script that I can then safely assume that platform prefs will always be ignored while in the script and that any character return values describing various column properties (or anything else with locale-specific returns) will be in a predictable and repeatable framework, so if I send my script overseas or to someone who highly customizes their JMP, I will get a predictable answer.
Re: Ignore Platform Preferences during an entire script - Status changed to: InvestigatingThanks for the clarification @mjoner . We will investigate this further.
