Whether it’s partnering with customers on the cutting edge of conservation strategies or committing to the JMP Data for Green Initiative, JMP consistently makes business decisions that support our environment and help ensure a more sustainable future for all.
In that spirit, JMP’s Print and Event Task Force recently put the finishing touches on a fully digital content marketing strategy that reduces our environmental impact and safeguards our natural resources. Highlights of the plan include retiring all printable assets (think PDF) in COSMOS, moving critical content to the web, and reducing (often, eliminating) print materials at events.
The cross-departmental task force examined the impact a fully digital strategy might have on our business and included core members Katie Stone, Larry LaRusso, Maria Astals Serés, Landra Cunningham, Volker Kraft, Sara Doudt, and Rita Lv. You’ll find more details about each decision below.
If you have any questions about the plan, feel free to reach out to a Task Force team member.
1) Archiving all print assets in COSMOS, instead moving critical content to the web; no more PDFs.
We’ve been archiving assets in COSMOS since the summer. While assets can still be retrieved, updated, and printed on the rare occasion that a business need arises, if the content is important enough, it really belongs on the web (jmp.com, the JMP Community, our YouTube channel or as a JMP Blog).
Besides being kinder to the environment, web assets are easier to access, can be found via search and translated via a simple page translation in AEM. Assets in local language gives customers/prospects more relevant content to consume, shortening sales cycles, increasing engagement, etc. White papers, articles and customer stories are just a few assets that have gone fully digital in the last several months.
2) Printed materials limited to key “cornerstone” assets only.
Recognizing the occasional need for print pieces - at key events like Discovery Summit for example - we’ll produce key overview pieces only. This includes pieces like the JMP Family of Products brochure and select Academic Program assets. Any additional designed-for-print requests must be approved.
3) Implementing digital bundles for select events
For select 3rd party events (DIA, ASA, etc.), instead of printing and distributing print materials at the event, JMP Global Marketing will build event-specific web landing pages loaded with digital assets of relevant resources. We’ll produce simple, event-specific postcards with QR codes to steer attendees to these pages. When appropriate, booth staff should use tablets/monitors to navigate to and display digital assets for attendees on site. This strategy was piloted at the DIA event this summer, with great success.

Great job, team. The drives us towards our goal of simplification and efficiency in what we do and makes sure that the web is the place to go for all of our most up-to-date information. Great process improvements!
