Just a reminder that it is a SAS 3rd Weekend Maintenance weekend. JMP development processes and virtual/physical machines will likely be impacted. When is a 3WM, you will see this kind of banner on Inside SAS:

Welcome to the JMP Development Update for September 16, 2022!
This was a very busy week for those who participated in JMP Discovery Summit in Cary. It was great to see many JMP colleagues and customers from far and near in person over at the EBC! Customers ran the gamut from longtime users to those relatively new to JMP. While holding the “Ask Me” sign and during other Discovery activities, I talked to former CAB members, EA customers, and new users I had not met before from sites ranging from the extremely large (thousands of users) to extremely small (trying to get an initial license purchased) in terms of JMP users. They they all had one thing in common – they wanted to learn more about our products and features and expand their usage.
Thanks very much to the JMP events team, the EBC team, the C café and caterers, the Discovery Steering Committee and all on the JMP and SAS teams who contributed to make this in-person session a success! If you have not heard, we have 10x as many customers signed up for the virtual Discovery events. Please do volunteer for virtual Meet the Experts if you’d like the chance to (hopefully) connect with more customers. Attendance at virtual sessions is sometimes hard to predict, but you can certainly do other things while waiting for the next customer to drop by.
On Tuesday, just before the start of Discovery, Audrey announced that JMP QA teams have signed off on JMP 17.0 installers! Thanks very much to our testing teams for reporting issues as they worked through the process. There are a lot of configurations and a checklist to run through for each one and I really appreciate the time testers spend to vet all our various installers before they go to customers. Also, thanks to all who have helped triage bug items in Jira tagged with 17.0:OPEN over the last few weeks! I’ll continue to look at items with no Fix Version assigned and stray story items as we head into next week and may be contacting you with questions.

Technical Support
- Duane: It was good to see everyone at the Discovery Summit (customers as well as our friends and coworkers at JMP). The feedback I heard from customers was very positive regarding the conference. I imagine the online portion will be just as popular! Regarding TS, I have been able to update the TS JMP Live reports. Additionally, I’ve attached the legacy track/case count by week below.

Development Operations

System/Host Testing-Cary
- Mandy: Attended Discovery and answered questions on a variety of topic including Workflow builder. Logged a few suggestions in Jira and updated the Confluence page. Working on a Windows crash that showed up on 8/31 for JMP 18.0 nightly runs, with a rapid test flow, but no one can make the crash happen in real time. Evan thought it was his push and he backed it out but that didn’t fix it - still a mystery. Catching up on 17.1 and 18.0 JIRA tickets, verifying and adding tests if needed. Need to tweak my Workflow builder demo / examples a bit to prepare for another Development tutorial I’m doing later in October for Gail M.
- Nick H: Worked on updating and adding ‘KnownIssue’ tags for the summary tables reporting currently failing unit tests in JMP 18 that are associated with Jira tickets. Corrected a number of my failing tests in the 17.1 and 18 tracks. Worked on adding Generalized Linear Mixed Model descriptions to JMP Starter under the Pro Platforms tab of the ‘JMP Pro’ category. Also have been working on verifications for both 18 and 17.1 and filed a couple of new bugs for 18.0 that could be integrated into 17.1.
- Audrey: Investigating some mysterious crashes in the JSL test framework that may have to do with the order tests run in, re-learning how to run suffix runs to help debug these issues. Q3 check-ins with team members this week and next. Still arranging Atlassian training.
- Lisa: Worked on 18.0 bug verifications and adding tests, responded to a feedback track regarding the configure levels feature, and started work on refining the crashes without defects table.
- Mike M: Worked on verifying defects, mostly crash related. Opened 5 new Jiras. Currently working to verify encrypted application crash defect and create a Sikuli test for that.
- Josh L: JMP Live Jira story testing. Worked on solving the mystery of why JMPLIVEDay has been having issues with the JMP Pool stopping after the 1st time it is started. Refactored some of the JMPLive server installation scripts.
