Categorical> Filters> Request to create a column based upon filter selectionsI wish you could create a new variable based on a filter combination (I think this was fairly simple in DR) – like if you could setup a filter of a few different things, and then save that into a new column (right now, the only way I know of doing this is creating formulas or recoding– which is not difficult, but it’s not as straightforward for folks who are not as familiar with if statements and this would be used with high frequency).
Re: Categorical> Filters> Request to create a column based upon filter selections - Status changed to: DeliveredRe: Categorical> Filters> Request to create a column based upon filter selectionsI just found another way to get from the Local Data filter to a selection in the original table.
Use the option in the Local Data Filter to Show Subset.

This will create a subset table linked to your original table. Now, selecting rows in this table will select them in the original table so you can use Name Selection in Column directly.
Re: Categorical> Filters> Request to create a column based upon filter selectionsI know the original context of this question was within the local data filter. However, this could be a re-training approach.
Re: Categorical> Filters> Request to create a column based upon filter selectionsI agree if this is about the main Data Filter.
It's possible the question is about the Local Data Filter instead. In this case the red triangle there doesn't allow saving the selection as a named selection in a new data table column.
Even then, it would be simple to work around by relaunching the main Data Filter (instead of a Local one) and then using Name Selection in Column. Scott, thoughts?

So, you can use any method you like (including a Data Filter) to select the rows you'd like to name and then use this option to create a new column with names for the selected and unselected rows. The video below shows how it works.
