If two (or more) columns with type "character" are selected, the New Formula Column menu shows the submenu character.
Among other option, there is the function concatenate which concatenates the strings.
There are also 2 more functions. They concatenate with Space or comma.
My wishes:
- A more general function "concatenate with string ...".
The idea: After selecting this function, a window pops up and asks the user to enter a string.
Then one can concatenate also with "_" or "-" or ...
- concatenate --> always there!
At the moment, the concatenate submenu is just visible if all the selected columns are "character"s.
Sometimes some of the columns that I want to concatenate are numbers.
Then I first have to change the column type to character to get the menu visible.
Alternative:
Generate the formula manually by putting a char() around the numbers *)
-> would be great if there was always a function "concatenate with string ..." and if jmp did the char() thing automatically.
*) funny: the character/concatenate function is even there if a single column is selected.
This can be used to speed up the manual generation of the concatenated column:
just "concatenate" the character column, then you just have to add the char(number) manually.
