JMP New User Welcome Kit
Download External Files
OtherRe: JMP New User Welcome KitIt would be better if the excel zip files in (WelcomeKitFiles.zip) were included in JMP help section like the HELP\SAMPLE DATA LIBRARY for the first sections files. I am getting a security warning about downloading these files. Our IT department is firmly against this.

Re: JMP New User Welcome KitGood morning...feedback...I'm new user....I was on data prep knowledge check about excluding weight above 4500 in cars data....I don't know how to do this...and if you select wrong answer, it just says try again...I don't see where you can ever learn from the mistake or how to do it correctly? The video didn't seem to show how to do this either...
Re: JMP New User Welcome KitThe first "Knowledge check" under "Data view" does not relate to data table overview. I have watched it 3 times, and still can't figure out how to do step 5. Does anyone know what section I should re-view to cover this? I have right clicked a bunch of things and none of them give me an option to exclude items that are less than a given value. I can drag to highlight the sections from 4500 and under (without right clicking) and see that this has excluded 6 data points, but that is just because "Wt" defaulted into bins of 500, this technique would not help me sort out models that were, for example, over 4250.
Re: JMP New User Welcome KitMany of the sample tables/ files (such as the excel import practice) are in different locations. or maybe some of them are default help options and others are in the "WelcomeKit" only. Having to hunt for the correct data to use every time is making the training frustrating. Along with instructions being not quite right, some of the mentioned fields are named differently compared to the software version I am using (v16 I think, but I have 14 and 15 on the computer and the computer refuses to default to 16 when opening files so I cannot be sure what version I have open at times).
This comment box is giving me the option to be emailed when someone replies, but as there is not an obvious way to reply to any of these comments, it appears that all comments have to be new, this is not a great method to facilitate learning/sharing on these videos.
Re: JMP New User Welcome KitThis still isn't fixed, it has been 10 months since the it was supposed to be updated, the first feedback asking you about females when you do the caloric mean of candy bars.

Re: JMP New User Welcome Kit@carlaemolo Sorry about that here's the to the sample data tables
Re: JMP New User Welcome KitI wanted to provide some constructive criticism for this tutorial.
I think it is great that you are trying to walk new users through these important steps quickly and easily, but the execution is quite poor and almost does more harm than good. I can imagine people on the fence about purchasing the product may chose not to due to the experience following the tutorial.
These are the things I think contribute to the poor learner experience:
unclear instructions
strange and unclear quiz interface
typos in the quiz questions
seemingly random use of all of these different dummy data sets
I'm only part of the way through so maybe things improve later on. But I just had to share.
Good luck, it's not a lot of work to make things better.
Re: JMP New User Welcome KitHi Carlaemolo,
In jump .You can find the file by doing the following: go to Help --> Sample Data Library and scroll down to find the file.
Re: JMP New User Welcome KitHi, I cannot find candy bar file. Can you please guide me? thanks!
Re: JMP New User Welcome KitThe file Steel Shipments is not in JMP Help sample data library . It is in the data included above in the zip files to download. Open it from Welcome Kit directory. (WelcomeKitFiles.zip)
Re: JMP New User Welcome KitI can't find the steel shipments data set to answer the Control Chart Builder Knowledge Check.
Re: JMP New User Welcome KitHello @jeffspencer1 I'm sorry you're having this issue. I've checked and all the videos are online working in Edge, Chrome, and Safari.
This is most likely a browser security issue setting.
Is this happening to a single video or all of them?
@ryandewitt
Re: JMP New User Welcome KitHas anyone found a fix for this:

i've tried multiple browsers and devices but i'm still getting the same error
Re: JMP New User Welcome KitHello @ThrowItAllIn. Thank you for trying the Kit. I'm sorry you're having trouble viewing the videos.

I'm here to help, let me know if you have any success with any of these options. @ryandewitt

Re: JMP New User Welcome KitData prep --> edit colums & rows

Re: JMP New User Welcome KitWhy does it happen that when I logon onto another PC my progress is not saved?
Re: JMP New User Welcome Kit2 Ways @nehagupta
Make a New Column next to your Column of Numbers and add this Formula (:weight) is unique Column name.
Col Sum(:weight)
The other is to Launch Graph Builder with a Script
xx=colsum(:weight);
Graph Builder(
Size( 524, 492 ),
Show Control Panel( 0 ),
Variables( X( :weight ), Y( :height ), Group X( :age ) ),
Elements( Points( X, Y, Legend( 25 ) ), Smoother( X, Y, Legend( 26 ) ) ),
SendToReport(
Dispatch(
{},
"Graph Builder",
OutlineBox,
{Set Title( "Sum of Weight: "||char(xx) ), Image Export Display( Normal )}
),
Dispatch( {}, "graph title", TextEditBox, {Set Text( "Sum of Weight: "||char(xx) )} )
)
);
Re: JMP New User Welcome KitIs there any other way (quick, faster) of doing sum of all rows within a column other than using tabulate function?
I found 'colsum' as a function for this purpose but not able to use this here. Can someone provide an example with this function?
One other typo:
In the car physical data question, I believe they are asking for largest variation between 5 factors not 4?
In the graph builder and local data filter section, it ask to submit a answer at the end but I'm not able to see any option, Am I missing it?
Re: JMP New User Welcome Kit@nehagupta Thank you for pointing this out to us, you are correct, We will remove the extra words "the amount of females" . The remainder is correct and the question functions correctly. I apologize and will be launching an updated Kit 080121, again thank you.

Re: JMP New User Welcome KitIs that a typo in question? the amount of females?
I believe the question is just asking for the mean of calories column.
