Categorical > Report cleanup > Request to Hide selected rows or columnsI wish you could easily hide rows or columns without having to use the filter (like we were able to just hide stuff in DR). Follow up e-mail - this is really more about wanting to easily hide responses in columns. An example would be to view selected response levels for different variables. Currently can only turn response levels on or off. Originally not ideal as using a filter could also impact data in the report if put in multiple variables at the top, but now JMP 13 is moving to paired variance instead of pooled.

We made a decision early on that the statistics in the report are based on all of the shown report columns and rows (except supercategories). This keeps reports from becoming misleading. Hiding a column or row in the report is equivalent to removing rows with that column value from the analysis (i.e. excluding those rows from the data table).
Hiding selected rows/columns in the report is therefore equivalent to using the data filter. We ask that users be trained to use the data filter when they want to hide columns or rows so they know the implications of what they're doing when they hide columns and rows.
