I Would Like Your IDeas - 2023 Mastering JMP ScheduleHi, We are focusing on basics, and the 30 minute format with two SEs has worked well for customers, at least that is what most of them are saying.
I attached a proposed 2023 US schedule for 1Q and 2Q. I kept presenters pretty much the same. Feel free to let me know if:
1. You do or don't want to present the topic next to your name.
2. You can or can't do your topic on the date listed (first name is presenter and second name is Q&A helper)
3. You like the list but you want to add one that 1) you want to do - or - 2) you think should be on the list although you do not want to volunteer to present it.
4. You want to delete a topic because you think customers don't need it.
5. Jian, Laura, Chris K., Brady are not on the list and Don is Q&A not presenter. Will you folks please let me know if/what you want to present,
With JMP 17 there will be minor changes to each session, which I will leave up to the presenters. I took a stab add adding some notes about the new stuff.
Excel sheet is attached. But you can just edit this table with simple stuff (see last column) to confirm/reject your topic and/or date.

Re: I Would Like Your IDeas - 2023 Mastering JMP ScheduleWhile DOE for the pharma industry might be a great idea, I think the Design Space Profiler has a much wider appeal across all industries that do DOE. I'm thinking the angle to take would be a demonstration, starting towards the end of the DOE process (once the model is built), focusing on how to use the Design Space Profiler to rationally set spec limits for factors in production would be a worthwhile endeavor. Thoughts?
Re: I Would Like Your IDeas - 2023 Mastering JMP ScheduleHi @gail_massari
I am happy to present "Identifying Important Variables" on June 23. The update to the Response Screening platform in JMP 17 would be good to highlight during this presentation.
If you are still looking for additional topics, a "Productivity Tips and Tricks" session could benefit a broad group. This content is usually well-received when I give it as a demo. If you would like to include it in the schedule, I would be able to give the presentation and recruit a Q&A helper.
-Scott
Re: I Would Like Your IDeas - 2023 Mastering JMP ScheduleThanks, Jed. Teh Design Sapce Profiler is mostly from paharma. Do you think a broader topic - DOE for the pharma industry is a good idea? I am asking @Byron_JMP also, because planning it might involve him. Thoughts, anyone? Also, Masring wants to cover broad topics, is that broad enough?
Re: I Would Like Your IDeas - 2023 Mastering JMP ScheduleI'd be happy to run the Q&A on Mar 17 for the Easy DOE session.
Also, I think a session on Setting Rational Spec Limits (a.k.a., using the Design Space profiler) would be very beneficial at some point. I'm happy to either lead that one or run Q&A for it.
Re: I Would Like Your IDeas - 2023 Mastering JMP ScheduleYes, we will find someone in the US. (And, it is St. Pat's Day, too.)
Re: I Would Like Your IDeas - 2023 Mastering JMP ScheduleHi @gail_massari ,
Assuming these will be late London time and on Fridays, I would like to give someone else the opportunity to be the second SE for the Easy DOE presentation (March 17).
Thanks,
Phil
Re: I Would Like Your IDeas - 2023 Mastering JMP ScheduleHi Gail,
Pete Hersh and I agree that SVEM should be a separate session.
For the Building Predictive Models with Correlated, Highly Dimensional Data we will show a chemometric example and a process example.
Best,
Bill
Re: I Would Like Your IDeas - 2023 Mastering JMP Schedule@gail_massari I talked with Sam and we can probably add 5 sessions for JMP Pro for Omic data. Luciano, Meichen and I can be the presenters.
Also, I will probably be doing one of the JMP Clinical sessions as well.
Re: I Would Like Your IDeas - 2023 Mastering JMP ScheduleSure, I can do them if Sam is not. I know he is still coming up with the topics/content. I think its April 20th and 27th, Correct?
Re: I Would Like Your IDeas - 2023 Mastering JMP Schedule@Chris_Kirchberg we are planning two JMP Clinical in April. They are not on the list.
Wouldn't you be the one for thos? I am coordinating with @SamGardner
Re: I Would Like Your IDeas - 2023 Mastering JMP ScheduleMay 26th works for me.
Re: I Would Like Your IDeas - 2023 Mastering JMP Schedule@gail_massari looks like Jian is already on the list and the topics have presenters already. I am happy to present something if needed. Is there a desired topic of interest that is not on the list?
Re: I Would Like Your IDeas - 2023 Mastering JMP Schedule@Jordan_Hiller Or I can switch with April 14 session so you'd be a few weeks after Workflow Builder.
Re: I Would Like Your IDeas - 2023 Mastering JMP ScheduleThanks Jordan @Jordan_Hiller Topic looks great. I kept first two Fridays in April free for Passover and Good Friday. Ramadan starts April 1 and is one month. So how about May 26? That is the Friday before Memorial Day, though.
Re: I Would Like Your IDeas - 2023 Mastering JMP ScheduleYes, the free JSL course is much better than anything we could do in 30 minutes. Learning basic JSL is too big for Mastering JMP.
I don't think a session on user inputs like radio boxes and text edit boxes would be useful, no.
Instead I recommend a tighter focus on JSL that is specifically useful for generalizing an automation script to other data tables and other columns. Call it "Generalize automation tasks with JSL" or something similar. Mainly discussion on Pick File() and Column Dialog(). If we do it, should probably happen after the March 24th Workflow Builder session.
Re: I Would Like Your IDeas - 2023 Mastering JMP ScheduleAgreed.. We will not do the Automation using Enhanced Log March 10. thatks for catching that. Have you looked at the new free JSL course: https://community.jmp.com/t5/Learning-Center/Introduction-to-the-JMP-Scripting-Language/ta-p/539562 ? It looks pretty instructional and not case study and covers basics through section 2.1

With the new JSL free course, do you think a basic JSL is still neeeded? If not, would a Mastering on automating and showing hot to to incorproate fill in boxes and radial buttons for users be a good idea instead of basic JSL?
Re: I Would Like Your IDeas - 2023 Mastering JMP ScheduleThe session that Christian and I are scheduled for on March 10th is about basic automation using the enhanced log. I think this topic is superseded by the JMP 17 Workflow Builder, which Mike and Mandy are scheduled to talk about on March 24th.
I propose that we kill the basic automation topic. It could be replaced by:
1) A general Introduction to JSL, or:
2) A session more focused on JSL for automation.
I would be willing to present on March 10th for either of these topics.
Re: I Would Like Your IDeas - 2023 Mastering JMP ScheduleThanks very much Jason!
Re: I Would Like Your IDeas - 2023 Mastering JMP ScheduleFYI, @peng_liu contacted me this morning about planning the two Reliability talks in April. I set up a meeting in early April with him to discuss. I'll include @DonMcCormack and @gail_massari to that invite. Anyone else that wants to attend the planning session, let me know!
Re: I Would Like Your IDeas - 2023 Mastering JMP ScheduleHere are the scheduled tutorials for this year, 2022. You can register at jmp.com/mastering: @DonMcCormack shall we talk about a deep dive reliability? I'll put something on your calendar for end of Nov. and JMP 17 is out.
Re: I Would Like Your IDeas - 2023 Mastering JMP ScheduleThey are posted on the mastering community page. There was a live audience and questions were held until the end. Here is one of my favorites in case you missed it.
https://community.jmp.com/t5/Mastering-JMP/Developer-Tutorial-Using-JMP-Pro-Generalized-Regression-to/ta-p/435887
And @Jason_Wiggins and @JerryFish from Gail: Search community.jmp.com for Developer Tutorial and you will get back all of them: https://community.jmp.com/t5/forums/searchpage/tab/message?advanced=false&allow_punctuation=false&filter=includeTkbs,location&include_tkbs=true&location=tkb-board:learn-jmp-tutorials-tkb&q=Developer%20Tutorial
Re: I Would Like Your IDeas - 2023 Mastering JMP ScheduleAre the Developer Deep Dives available for external consumption? They're REALLY great for us internally (just got some great info today from a JMP Live internal vid), but wondering if they can be shared externally. Seems it would expose our developers to questions from "the masses".
Re: I Would Like Your IDeas - 2023 Mastering JMP ScheduleThe developer tutorials that were recorded last year were deeper dives. I found these to be very informative and made at least one customer connection in the Rockies through the Q&A. Perhaps a Don or developer deep dive tutorial for reliability is in order?
Re: I Would Like Your IDeas - 2023 Mastering JMP ScheduleThanks Gail. Your explanation of what we're trying to get out of Mastering helps.
For me, the word "mastering" is pretty powerful, implying that we would be giving as much info as possible in the limited time to help elevate the JMP user to "master" status. That's clearly not what is intended in this case, so I'll take that into account and adjust my talk accordingly.
I'll give Reliability some thought, but (first blush) I don't think we need to break it down any further.
Thanks!
Re: I Would Like Your IDeas - 2023 Mastering JMP ScheduleHi Jerry @JerryFish ,
A few thoughts. No real answers:
1. Mastering is supposed to drive people with a need for the capability to try JMP, use the journal. If , for example with Reliability, the topic is too broad, it can be broken into several problem-oriented sections - like you did when breaking into repairable and non-repariable. Do you want to break Reliability down further and offer related case studies? If not you, then perhaps Don @DonMcCormack.
2. Purpose of Mastering is NOT to create videos (they are a side effect/benefit) but rather to encourage and answer problem - oriented (vs keystoke-oriented) questions. This year I think you folks succeeded in driving those kind of questions. Have you gotten any comments about value of having the questions and answers and tiny demos included with the videos? Perhaps Taylor @Taylor_Ferguson can help us find out with a survey. I am also going to pop up a SHORT reaction poll at 2023 Masterings.
3. Beyond basics for the dedicated user who needs in-depth, is really accomplished by TRAINING done by the JMP Education Team, and Ruth @ruthhummel is working on that.
Re: I Would Like Your IDeas - 2023 Mastering JMP ScheduleI suspect this has been discussed to death already, but I'll ask anyway.
I'm interested in the 30 minute format. I get that many customers are wanting the shorter sound-bite-style shows. I'm fine with that.
But I suspect that there are other folks that want deeper dives into the topics too. For a 30 minute Mastering, I'm thinking I'll only have time for a high-level demo (e.g. Reliability is so broad that I can't do much in a half hour except the most basic of basics... certainly not showing how to "master" Reliability.) I'm sure other topics are similar.
So when our users ask about deeper dives, how do we handle those needs? We used to refer individual requests to the Mastering recordings. But now... "See your local SE for more info"? or "See JMP documentation"? Once our hour-long Mastering videos are replaced with the new shorter format, where is a user's next stop for additional information? Will we have blog/videos for deeper dives? Are we moving toward developing SE's to have certain expertises, so we call on each other to demo to other territories?
Lots and lots of questions occur to me. Anyone have any thoughts?
Re: I Would Like Your IDeas - 2023 Mastering JMP ScheduleYes. Added it to the table above. Modeling Mixed Effects for Binary and Count Response Data
Re: I Would Like Your IDeas - 2023 Mastering JMP ScheduleHow about this?
Modeling Mixed Effects for Binary and Count Response Data
Re: I Would Like Your IDeas - 2023 Mastering JMP Schedule@jiancao
1. How is this:
Modeling Non-Gaussian Responses and Random Design Effects using JMP Pro
2. I just saw this title that you suggested.
Using new GLMM platform to fit mixed effects logistic regression for binary outcomes and mixed effects Poisson regression for count data
We can put GLMM in the description., then possibly cut it to:
Modeling Mixed Effects for Binary Outcomes and Count Data -or- Modeling Binary Outcomes and Count Data using JMP Pro
Re: I Would Like Your IDeas - 2023 Mastering JMP ScheduleHappy to do the 2 Reliability sessions as scheduled.
I'll also volunteer to do the presentation on JMP Live on 1/27 with Aurora. (Good opportunity for me to develop my Live expertise!)
Re: I Would Like Your IDeas - 2023 Mastering JMP ScheduleThanks @jiancao . I added you to table for July 14. Let me know if that works. Finding a simple example will be a challenge, so thank you. Also, Elizabeth tutrial is Dec. 1. Want to be a panelist on that? https://www.jmp.com/en_us/events/live-webinars/mastering-jmp/using-glmm/01-dec-2022.html
Re: I Would Like Your IDeas - 2023 Mastering JMP ScheduleThanks. I added you to table.
Re: I Would Like Your IDeas - 2023 Mastering JMP Schedule I'd be open to doing the workflow builder session on March 24th.
