Applications of Modern Design of Experiments (DoE)
Join us for this free hands-on workshop
Date: August 23, 24 and 25
Time: 12:00 - 13:00 p.m. ET
Design of Experiments (DoE) is the most effective way to empirically learn about technologies when there are many variables or factors to consider. In this free, engaging and fun three-part online training program, you will be introduced to DoE and discover how it enables scientists and engineers to develop better solutions faster.
Led by JMP experts, the program provides a solid theoretical understanding of DoE, complemented by hands-on exercises using JMP statistical discovery software. You'll also have access to multiple facilitators, on hand throughout the program to answer your questions and provide real-time assistance.
If you complete all three sessions, you will receive a certificate from the Royal Society of Chemistry. To learn more, visit the program website.
Day 1: Introduction to Design of Experiments
What is DoE? Through examining example case studies, you'll discover why DoE is such an important tool for scientists and engineers.
In this session, you will learn:
- The advantage of Design of Experiments over traditional experimental methods.
- How DoE fits into your experimental plan.
- The types of classical experimental designs with use-cases

Day 2: Introduction to Modern DoE
The modern state of DoE is a rich landscape of tools and capabilities to help an experimenter with everything from screening to developing predictive models. This session will introduce you to the state-of-the-art capabilities modern DoE can provide.
In this session, you will learn:
- How Optimal DoE relates to Classical DoE.
- How to create an Optimal Design and which optimality strategy to use when.
- How to leverage modern screening designs to identify important factors more efficiently.

Day 3: Applications of Modern DoE
Join us for a session that will help you catch a vision of the amazing things you can do with modern DoE methods through a series of case studies covering topics from manufacturing to spectroscopy.
In this session, you will learn:
- How to design and analyze a DoE where the response is a curve.
- How Functional Data Analysis is used to analyze curves.
- How Functional Data Analysis is combined with a DoE model to meet the goals of the experiment.
