Thanks Dan, this is very helpful. Could you please clarify the situation with regard to extending a trial license after 30-days has expired? In earlier versions it was possible for an SE to get a new 30-day code and provide this to a trial user, when our sales colleagues considered it necessary to extend a trial license.
Best,
Malcolm
Hi Daniel,
Thanks a lot for this. I would like to share with my team.
Kind regards,
Jinyoung
Hi Dan, can you add if there is any not active feature in the trial compared to the full version, e.g. when publishing/exporting? From an analysis point of view I believe it is the complete JMP version, correct?
Thanks,
Martin
I have the same question as Martin. Are there any features at all that are NOT active/available in the trial, that ARE active in standard JMP?
One example I stumbled onto: In QueryBuilder, when I run QB on my licensed copy, there are two tabs ("Included Columns" and "Sample" on this screen:

In trying to help a customer debug QB in her trial version, I discovered that there is no "Sample" tab in the trial.
Are there other non-active features that we should know about?
Thanks,
Jerry
This JMP Trial FAQ page should help you understand the standard process of requesting, downloading, installing and activating a JMP Trial. It should also answer questions around how to troubleshoot any issues that may arise, where to find information, resources related to the trial, and listing the latest updates that have been made to the trial.

What does the current trial process look like?
- Trial Download form page: Prospect navigate to the localized version of the trial download form page. They fill out the form with their information and click “get my trial”.
- Trial download thank you page: When the form is successfully completed, they are routed to the trial form thank you page. This thank you page instructs them to look at their email for a personalized download link and a serial number to activate their 30-day trial.
- Email: They will receive an email (the email address they entered in the trial download form). The email will come from JMP Software with a subject line of “your JMP Trial is ready”. The email contains a personalized link and their serial number. The email instructs them to click on personalized link to continue download process.
- From here there are 3 scenarios - if the user does not have a SAS profile, they will be directed to password creation page, if the user is not logged into profile, they will they be directed to profile login page, if the user is already logged into profile, they will be redirected straight to demos and downloads page.
- Continue page: We are working to get this page out of the trial process as it serves no purpose.
- Demos and Downloads Page: At this point they will get their download link (Mac or Windows) based on their OS. Note the JMP trial is 64-bit only on both Mac and Windows operating systems. They would click on this link to start the download process and then will be asked to enter the serial number that was supplied in the email.

What training/guidance/support is offered during the trial?
Using the tip of the day functionality, trialers are welcomed to their JMP trial and guided along a path in the product that highlights the top capabilities that anyone who is brand new to JMP will need to know. These videos and corresponding step by step guides are available in the tip window as well as a get started addin located in the menu.
Can I share the videos and step by step guides outside of the product?
Yes, the videos and step by step guides are available in one link and are sharable outside the trial. Please feel free to share these videos and guides as they are handy tools for users who want to familiarize themselves with the basics of JMP. This page (including the videos and step by step guides) is in all languages:
I see there is a place for people to contact us. Where is contact us link located in the trial process and where does that information go?
Within the trial, there are several places where users can click a “Contact Us” or “Have Questions” button to generate an inquiry: the expired dialog, the tips frames, the thank you page, in the email and the get started add-in menu. These forms have been localized.

When this occurs, the lead owner will receive an email notification with a link to the Salesforce record, as well as the information in the “JMP Trial Inquiry Comments” field seen above in the Trial Download Information section of your Lead/Contact. There is a salesforce campaign called JMP 16 Trial Inquiry, which will show in the Campaign History section of the lead.
PLEASE NOTE: the automated message received by the customer when completing this field indicates a response will be received within 24 hours. Please follow up with the customer accordingly.
When does the 30-day countdown begin?
The 30 days starts at activation(when they enter their serial number and activate), not at download. So someone could potentially download the trial on March 1 and not activate their trial until April 1. This means that their trial "starts" on April 1 and the trial would then expire on April 30.
What is the experience when the trial is over (30 days old)?
Can the trial be extended?
No. The JMP trial is 30-days only and cannot be extended.
If a customer has done a JMP 15 trial, can they do a JMP 16 trial?
Yes, if a customer downloads a trial in one version, the will also be able to download the next version of the trial.
Were there any changes made to the JMP 16 trial?
Nope, the trial process for the JMP 16 trial is the same as the JMP 15 trial.
Were there any changes made to the JMP 15 trial?
Some of the major changes we made to the JMP 15 trial were:
- We added a new “Role” field to the JMP Trial form page where the person would have to select if they are in a professional, academic, or student role. This field was added in an effort to get cleaner data and for improved lead routing.
- We added 2 new learning the basics of JMP videos to the trial – one around data cleanup and the other around publishing results to JMP Public. These were added in an effort to highlight some of the key features that we think someone in the trial would appreciate knowing. These videos will be reflected in the trial tip popup windows as well as the Get Started Addin that is included with the trial.
How can I assist a customer who has not received their email or serial number?
The trial process uses AEM to send the reply email to the user with their download link and serial number. While it should be reliable, there will be cases where the email is not received. After having the user check their junk e-mail and spam folders, try the following.
- If they submitted the form properly, you should be able to search by their email to find their lead record. Under the lead record, you should see a section for trial download information that lists their trial serial number and operating system.

- You can then copy/paste the trial serial number value into an email to the customer, along with the appropriate shortcut URL to download the installer for Windows or for Mac.
- Note: the user will have to create a Profile to access these links or log in with one that has already been activated.
- If you cannot find the user’s email in Salesforce, the best option is to have them try the form again. You can also ask a member of the web team to look into the AEM data to see if there was a workflow error involving that user’s submission.
How do I know if someone activated their trial?
Activation data will also be listed in salesforce under lead or contact view, under the Trial Download Information section. This activation data is updated every night. In this section the serial number, operating system, days since download, if the trial has been activated, the activation date, and the days since activation are all listed.

What languages is the trial offered in?
The trial is offered in the same languages as the product:
- English
- Korean
- Japanese
- Chinese
- French
- German
- Italian
- Spanish (Castilian)
Do we offer a 32-bit trial?
No, the trial is only available in 64-bit. This is noted on the demos and downloads page in red:
How do I get more details on the evaluation paperwork request option?
Sales Reps can request "evaluation paperwork". This "licensing document" provides the customer with a temporary annual license with a 30-day built-in evaluation period + additional 62 days before the software expires. The signature requirements are quite relaxed as we do not need an Officer of the Company or a person authorized to sign on behalf of a company to sign the Evaluation Paperwork. Turnaround time in the United States from the request to sending out the paperwork is generally within a day or two, unless, we are at the end of a quarter, in which "Money" is first.
Evaluation Paperwork is available worldwide as an option. In fact, the only way a customer can evaluation JMP Genomics or JMP Clinical is through "evaluation paperwork" so worldwide Sales Reps are familiar with the process.
UNITED STATES (Salesforce): Sales Reps sends a request to Operations indicating they need Evaluation Paperwork. Operations prepares paperwork and sends back to Sales Rep.
NON-US: Sales Reps will use ORION to request Evaluation Paperwork through a drop-menu of various types of paperwork. Various Contract groups around the worldwide prepare the paperwork.
What about a JMP Pro Eval - what does that process like?
How can I see performance of trial downloads - by region, territory, etc?
We have published several dashboards that show trial performance in
JMP Live. These reports show trial download volume and quality (% of students, % new, % academic, % target, etc).
