IATF 16949 and JMP

I'm working with a customer who has a large contingent of Minitab users. These users are using Minitab primarily for work related to IATF 16949, which is an automotive standard related to quality, MSA, etc. Does anyone have experience with this particular use case for Minitab? It shouldn't be a problem to speak to the caliber of our quality tools but am curious if there is something else related to the standard I may be missing. Thank you.

based on this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IATF_16949 I suspect that this standards says very little about software used for quality control and quality improvement.  Minitab does seem to have foothold in the automotive industry, and I expect it is in part due to their heavy historical focus on Six Sigma and also that their product design lends itself more to a templated analysis approach (e.g. here is the specific way to an analysis to answer this type of question).   The ISO and IATF other associated guidelines tend to be very prescriptive in how to do a statistical procedure.  

It may be that their IATF/ISO certification is based in part on internal procedures that specify the use of Minitab.
