[Announcement summary]
A JMP time-series analysis, ARIMA model / State-Space Smoothing Models (SSM), was used to investigate the mass loss of Antarctic glaciers during the 2021-2041 forecast period. We are also examining ice sheet mass data from the GRACE-FO satellite from a geoscientific and COVID-19 perspective. The non-seasonal / seasonal ARIMA model shows a 12-month seasonal and long-term year-over-year trend pattern (average 2% increase in melting rate). With SSM, we were able to reduce random noise, improve prediction accuracy, and extend the prediction range to at least five years ahead.
* For the convenience of the presenter, only the JMP data used for the presentation and analysis has been released. Please note.
