JMP Academy Wraps Up
The first hybrid JMP Academy took place this week on SAS Campus. It was the ninth JMP Academy class, but the first one with in-person and online attendees.
For some lucky JMPers from the United States, they got to be with JMP Academy instructor Robin Betters in-person and in real time – learning together, eating together and really getting to know one another. They were joined online by the other primary instructor Phil Kay and new hires from across Europe. For JMPers from Asia, the hybrid experience was optimized as best possible, with live (and online) sessions hosted by Kay at regionally appropriate times.

Because of the variety of time zones, some content was delivered live while other segments were shown as recordings. Opportunities for interactivity, questions, and conversations, however, were built in at every opportunity. While the JMP Academy team of Betters and Kay made the hybrid experience as effective and fun as possible, Betters says she very much hopes that next year all new employees can travel in to participate in person.
If you are unfamiliar with the purpose of JMP Academy, it is to help recently hired employees feel excited about having joined JMP and the JMP mission. “And about how your job aligns with that,” said Kay. It is not sales training, nor it is not onboarding for any specific role, he said.
JMP Academy Goals:
- Our big goal for JMP Academy is to connect you with colleagues from around the world to support a successful and fulfilling career with JMP. We want you to come away with the start of a network of global friends that will continue to grow with your time at JMP.
- We also want you to be comfortable telling the world about JMP. Whether or not you are in sales, you are an ambassador for JMP. You should leave JMP Academy knowing about our messaging and even knowing a little bit about how we demo JMP.
- Finally, we want to give you some familiarity with our most important business operations - with the different JMP functions, roles, tools, and processes.

Please take a moment to welcome these individuals to the JMP family if you haven’t already. In the meantime, enjoy photos of the Americas members of the class.

Re: JMP Academy Wraps UpIt was a great few days connecting with new JMP employees. I echo the comments about appreciation to Phil, Robin, and those that helped support JMP Academy over the three day program. It is so awesome to see the wonderful talent that our recruiting team and managers are bringing onboard!
Re: JMP Academy Wraps UpThanks @Phil_Kay and Robin Betters for coordinating and leading us in this incredible experience. Also thanks to everyone at JMP who played a part in speaking to the group live or online.
Re: JMP Academy Wraps UpTo help in-person attendees feel comfortable being around other people, name tags were color-coded with the person's comfort level. For instance, a green dot on the tag meant hugs were welcome. Yellow means elbow bumps were preferred greetings. Red means the person was being quite Covid-cautious and appreciated more personal space than others.
John Sall brought that idea to the team, and it's something we may want to consider using in any in-person meetings while Covid is still a worry.
Re: JMP Academy Wraps UpI love these photos. Thanks, @Diana_Levey !
We definitely learned a lot from the hybrid experiment, which we can use to continually improve the class experience.
And the need for online delivery over the last 2 years has been a positive in some ways: it has forced us to focus on Brevity, Simplicity, Relevance, and Impact (Academy graduates should be familiar with this mantra).
Re: JMP Academy Wraps UpThanks to Robin & Phil for making it so enjoyable! Love the JMP Live graph!!!
