JMP Days
Purpose and Takeaways
Purpose:
To support and maintain current JMP users in an organization to ensure they are getting the most out of their JMP investment, to develop the relationship between JMP and the specific organization, to inspire users to learn more, and to help expand JMP usage as well as awareness of the breadth of JMP’s capabilities and potential applications at the organization.
Takeaways:
- Support and maintain current JMP users in an organization to ensure they are getting the most out of their JMP investment.
- Develop the relationship between JMP and the specific organization.
- Expand JMP usage by expanding the vision of what JMP can do.
- Inspire the interest to learn more.
- Make users aware of JMP’s capabilities and potential applications at the organization.
- Currently all JMP Days are virtual due to COVID-19.
JMP Days vs. Workshops/Sales Support
JMP Days are for current customers and we must have a good champion at that organization to help us coordinate this event. JMP Days are not workshops. JMP Days are not hands-on events. At JMP Days, we want to reach as many people as possible - broad audience and broad topics – and for users see what is possible with JMP. JMP Day presentations are given lecture/seminar style. Each topic lasts 45 – 50 minutes and are selected from the JMP Day topic list. The JMP Day topic list is designed to make JMP Days scalable so the presenter doesn’t have to come up with new presentation material each time.
Workshops and sales support events have their strategic place but are not supported by customer care advocates. Workshops are for a small, strategic group that will spread the benefits of JMP throughout their organization. Sales support events are supported by sales to focus on specific topics outside the JMP Day topic list. For workshop details/questions, please work with Ian Cox or Jeff Perkinson.
Requirements

- The Account Team has identified and has a relationship with a JMP Champion in the organization.

- The JMP Champion and/or colleagues provide feedback on the JMP Day agenda.
- The JMP Champion is familiar with and has lists of JMP users and potential users in different departments at the site.
- The JMP Champion commits to sharing an email invitation/agenda/registration link that is either provided by the organization or provided by the JMP Customer Care group.

- The JMP Champion is able to invite potential JMP users to the event to help expand JMP usage at the organization.
- The JMP Day will be held onsite at the customer’s location.

Value Statement (to Share with Organization)
All JMP users will increase their knowledge of the capabilities of the software through live, in-person presentations by JMP staff experts. Attendees have the opportunity to see how JMP integrates smoothly into the values, practices and outcomes essential to a culture of analytics in their organization. The agenda for the JMP Day is tailored to your organization, your needs and your audience. These events are offered only to select organizations. Experienced users will gain a deeper understanding of JMP, find out about features they haven't used yet, and have the opportunity to ask questions and share knowledge and feedback with JMP staff. New users will get an efficient, interactive introduction to JMP. Beginners and experienced users alike will leave inspired to explore and learn more about how their analyses can be easier yet more powerful with JMP.

Virtual JMP Day Sessions
Sample Conversation With Champion
A data-driven culture is becoming vital for many organizations. By making analytics the cornerstone of problem solving and decision making in every facet of business, companies generate more insights, accelerate innovation and create value.
With JMP you are heading in the right direction, and we would like to partner with you to make your culture of analytics a reality.
With this objective, we would like to offer you a Virtual JMP Day. This event consists of selected presentations that last about 60 minutes each. These presentations are designed to proactively engage and advance the skill set of JMP users within your organization and expand understanding of the value and possibilities analytics creates in your company.
JMP provides technical speakers and complete event support – including agenda planning for one or multiple sessions, email invitations, attendee registration and additional resources. All this is provided free of charge. It is a great opportunity for your user community to hear from JMP technical staff. A JMP Day can increase your users’ utilization of JMP and therefore help you make the most of your technology investment. We welcome new and potential JMP users, as the JMP staff can present specific topics for each target audience.
We can set up an online survey to understand the topics of interest to your audience. This will help us set an agenda for the JMP Day that will meet the needs of your organization. All you need to do is send the survey to those you plan to invite to the JMP Day, and we will use the responses to create the ideal agenda.
Making Your JMP Day a Success
Share this information with your champion. We want our champion to be successful and help us expand the analytical culture within the organization.
Lessons Learned/Best Practices for Virtual JMP Day Sessions
- Attendees don’t want to be online for long periods of time. So don’t present for more than 2 hours at a time. Because of this, we are breaking up the presentations into a number of sessions, and not presenting all material in one day. Thus, we are calling these events, "Virtual JMP Day Sessions".
- Encourage champion to find internal volunteers to present quick, five-minute presentations about how they are using JMP (called Lightning Talks). This is a great opportunity for both internal colleagues and JMP staff to see how JMP is being used. The Lightning Talk presenter benefits by being seen as a leader by peers and management.
- Have the JMP Champion be a “panelist” during the virtual JMP Day. By having the champion talk and emphasize how they are using JMP, this creates more engagement with the audience.
- Have the JMP Champion participate in answering virtual chat and Q&A. This help create more engagement with the audience.
- Avoid Mondays and Fridays for scheduling – this results in lower attendance.
- If the organization allows, JMP should create the email invitation and registration via Salesforce. By doing this, the JMP Champion does not have to create the invitation or keep track of registrations.
- Create and send a survey to attendees post-event or have your JMP Champion send it for you.
- Encourage the JMP Champion to invite potential JMP users to attend. We can include an “Introduction to JMP” presentation in the agenda.
- Request potential and new users to watch “Getting Started with JMP” before attending the JMP Day.

Intro and Resources Slide for JMP Day
Use these slides for your introductions at a JMP Day. It shows the many resources available to users.
Onsite JMP Days
Lessons Learned/Best Practices for Onsite JMP Days:
- Encourage champion to find internal volunteers to present quick, five-minute presentations about how they are using JMP (called Lightning Talks). This is a great opportunity for both internal colleagues and JMP staff to see how JMP is being used. The Lightning Talk presenter benefits by being seen as a leader by peers and management.
- Avoid Mondays and Fridays for scheduling the JMP Day – this results in lower attendance.
- Avoid offsite locations, including hotels. This results in lower attendance since people do not want to travel away from the office.
- WebEx-ing to remote users can be done, but this often results in difficulties. There are technical issues, and presenters are presenting to the live audience, not to the WebEx audience.
- If possible, request lapel microphones for presenters and a handheld microphone for Q&A.
- Every organization has different rules and regulations on what they can accept for catering, giveaways and door prizes. Confirm what is allowed with each organization.
- Sending a few JMP books as door prizes works well. Confirm that the organization can accept books.
- If the organization allows, JMP should create the email invitation and registration via Salesforce. By doing this, the JMP Champion does not have to create the invitation or keep track of registrations. JMP is able to keep track of registrations for catering and giveaway quantities. Plus, JMP captures end user information in Salesforce.
- Create and send a survey to attendees post-event, or have your JMP Champion send it for you.
- Encourage the JMP Champion to invite potential JMP users to attend. We can include an “Introduction to JMP” presentation in the agenda.
- Request potential and new users to watch “Getting Started with JMP” before attending the JMP Day.
