Refreshing the JMP brand for JMP16APRIL 2022: This story remains for historical purposes only. Our JMP brand was updated with our move to JMP Statistical Software LLC. For the most updated brand news, logos, .ppt templates, the Creative Guide and much, much more please see New Brand Graphics for JMP Statistical Discovery LLC
----------------------------------------
In March of 2021, we released our latest update to JMP software, JMP16. Offering a number of new features and enhancements, there was a lot for our users to be excited about. In addition to a software refresh, JMP received a brand refresh in advance of the new release as well. The refresh included a reenergized logo and new type treatment for the tagline, an updated color palette, and a refresh of marketing collateral and PowerPoint templates. It also includes beautiful new abstract art that puts JMP’s incredible data visualizations on display.
The JMP Brand Refresh project team – Diana Levey, Jessica Marquardt and Larry LaRusso from Marketing and Aaron Kennedy, Ryan Clare and John Jones from Digital Design and Operations – worked closely with SAS Creative to create a new, modern version of the JMP brand, but one that recognized and protected its traditional elements.
“Our visual identity plays an important role in reinforcing the promise of our brand,” said Digital Design Manager Aaron Kennedy. “The refresh respects our strong, easily recognizable brand, while capturing the excitement around the JMP 16 release. We’re looking forward to incorporating these new elements into all of our visual communications.”
JMP Logo Refresh
Nothing anchors your brand more than your logo, but even the most recognizable logos go through subtle adaptations to stay modern and fresh. As our company’s visual identifier, the JMP logo is the epitome of our brand and we want to use it with care and consistency. JMP’s newest logo uses the traditional logo elements, but introduces a new type treatment for the tagline and a solid “JMPer“ icon (notice that both the body and head are now the same color).

These changes allow for more flexibility with how and where the logo can be used (e.g. it can be set at smaller sizes without the tagline becoming too difficult to read) and are intended to accentuate the friendly and curious nature of our brand. Restricted-use versions of the logo include the JMP logo without the tagline (intended only for audiences familiar with JMP – user groups, JMP Community, etc.) and colored versions of the logo, for events in the JMP Discovery Summit series. If you’d like to use “restricted use” logos, please contact Aaron Kennedy.
You can download the new logo (in a number of treatments) in the attachments for this story.
JMP Color Palette
The JMP Brand Refresh redefines the traditional JMP Color Palette. The new palette includes a wide range of color options and complements the recently updated SAS Color Palette. (Many of the colors may look familiar – they were incorporated into regional Discovery Summit branding in 2020.) All colors were specifically selected to work on both light and dark backgrounds and adhere to accessibility best practices. In addition, there are several color combination gradients which can be used to give even more color options. The new JMP Color Palette is shown below:

JMP Product Gradients
In addition to brand colors, the JMP Brand Refresh Team formalized key color gradients for our five JMP products. These colors and color gradients will be used whenever possible for marketing collateral that exclusively promotes a given software solution. JMP uses traditional JMP blue, while sub-products use different colors to distinguish them from our primary product. JMP Pro is primarily red; JMP Live is purple; JMP Clinical is green; and JMP Genomics is Teal. JMP Product Gradients can be found below:

JMP Abstract Art
Even casual users know there’s no better software tool for expert data analysis and impactful data visualizations. An exciting new element to the JMP Brand Refresh project uses JMP’s exceptional visualizations to create abstract art that can be used with marketing materials, event signage, JMP Foreword, the JMP website and in other places. The new Data Visualization Artwork Library provides custom illustrations that spotlight JMP’s visualization capabilities and can be used on a variety of backgrounds and even overlaid on photography. Below are some examples of abstract art and the art in mockups of JMP marketing collateral.

JMP PowerPoint Templates
The new brand refresh also brings us new PowerPoint templates for both internal and external use. We now have three templates from which to choose – each leveraging an element of our new abstract art. View the Inside JMP Story from Meg Eberle to download these new templates. You can begin using them immediately. JMP PowerPoint templates

Questions? Feedback?
With a strong visual identity in place, it’s important to protect the integrity of our brand by using the elements as instructed in the soon-to-be-published JMP Creative Guide. The document will outline details around the new brand refresh and provide instructions on how to use its various elements. Aaron and team are working on this document and will share with the division as soon as possible.
You’ll start to see elements of the refresh on the web and in marketing collateral beginning in 2021, with a full rollout for JMP 16. In the meantime, please feel free to reach out to Aaron or any member of the JMP Brand Refresh Team.
We’d also love to hear what you think of the JMP Brand Refresh. If you have any comments or suggestions, please leave them in the comments below.

Feature StoryMarketingRe: Refreshing the JMP brand in advance of JMP16Where can we find the JMP Pro logo? There's a JMP Pro logo that's often used in the help documentation to highlight JMP Pro features.
Re: Refreshing the JMP brand in advance of JMP16@Larry_LaRusso - perfect! Thanks!

Re: Refreshing the JMP brand in advance of JMP16Hi @MikeD_Anderson
Thanks for the feedback. Glad you like the new design. As for you question/requests, I've added a variety of logo treatments to this story, including the light logo treatment for use on a dark background. I'll send you the zip files... which includes the PDFs of the logos in an email. Also, below you'll find what I think you're asking for in your final request. (Let me know if I'm wrong about that!) - Have a good weekend.

Re: Refreshing the JMP brand in advance of JMP16@Larry_LaRusso - looks great! Could we get the following for this?
- The color coordinates for the color set (RGB and CMYK)
- The dark and light logos as png's (I saw the dark one attached already)
- The dark and light logos as a vector format (pdf or eps). The png ones do weird things when they're resized for journals, etc. So lossless is a better place to start.
Also as a question - the typeface we're working with is still Avenir Next, correct?
Thanks!
M
Re: Refreshing the JMP brand in advance of JMP16@Chris_Kirchberg Just wanted to make sure you saw this. I just added (as an attachment to this story) the new logo treatment on a white background. Feel free to use as needed. You can also download the .ppt templates from Meg's story here. https://community.jmp.com/t5/JMP-Sales-and-Marketing-Library/JMP-PowerPoint-templates/ta-p/345821#U345821
Let me know if you have any questions.
Re: Refreshing the JMP brand in advance of JMP16Please note: I've added the new JMP logo - black & blue with gray tag - to the attachments for this story. Feel free to use as needed.
Re: Refreshing the JMP brand in advance of JMP16Thanks @Larry_LaRusso that's good to know and a good steer about the general accessibility of dark backgrounds. And also the clarity about the JMP person is really helpful.
Appreciate your time to explain!
Re: Refreshing the JMP brand in advance of JMP16@benfrancis, great feedback. I know SAS Creative has gone to the dark backgrounds for accessibility issues. We did not get any white or light templates - though it did come up... so some of our folks felt the same way. There is always the "white background" within the slide deck you can use as needed.... up to and including the whole deck if you absolutely hated the dark backgrounds! As for colors, we do have multiple color options for the jmp person, but those are really reserved for the Discovery Summit designs (colors assigned by event location). It's possible we could use in other ways, but it would need to be discussed/approved by Aaron Kennedy and is, in all honesty, pretty unlikely we'd use for another purpose. Give a call if you'd like to discuss further. Hope this helps. Thanks again for the feedback.
Re: Refreshing the JMP brand in advance of JMP16Yes @Chris_Kirchberg. We'll post the .ppt templates soon (this week for sure) and additional items as they are finalized. All will be Inside JMP postings, so you should see them on the Inside JMP homepage and in your feed/email (if you are subscribed to Sales and Marketing). If you have a need in the meantime (or questions) just give me a shout.
Re: Refreshing the JMP brand in advance of JMP16@Larry_LaRusso ,
When these logos and backgrounds are available to release, will you be posting a link as to the location for us to download and use?
Thanks,
Re: Refreshing the JMP brand in advance of JMP16@ChulHee_JMP, while they aren't photographs we do have backgrounds for virtual meetings:
JMP Backdrops for virtual meetings
JMP Japan and Discovery Summit Japan JMP Backdrops for virtual meetings
@Aaron_Kennedy, we may now want to create new versions based on the new branding, art, and color palette.
Re: Refreshing the JMP brand in advance of JMP16Really exciting new direction with branding @Larry_LaRusso , thank you to all the brand team for your hard work!
The feedback I'd give is on PP Template 1, looks a little Christmassy and I wonder whether customers will get it?
Is it possible to have a "light" alternative/option for the PP slides?
Are the JMP person colours refreshing too? All I can see is that it's block grey, white or blue on all examples.
RE: Refreshing the JMP brand in advance of JMP16Thanks @Larry_LaRusso !
Glad to know about the resources.
Yes, I will be staying tuned.
Re: Refreshing the JMP brand in advance of JMP16Hi @ChulHee_JMP. This is a wonderful suggestion. In the short term, you might want to check out the backgrounds SAS has created for Teams, Zoom, etc. These are not specifically "SAS Branded" so they could certainly be used for JMP.
You'll find several using the "Curiosity" theme here: https://inside.sas.com/news/2020/12/14/download-a-new-curiosity-forever-teams-background/
They've also created dozens of backgrounds showing various SAS offices. These are really cool as well. Check them out at: https://brand.sas.com/en/home/brand-assets/asset-overview/ms-teams-backgrounds.html
Still, I really like your idea for JMP ones. I'm copying a few of the Brand Team for us to discuss further (@Aaron_Kennedy, @Diana_Levey, @Meg_Eberle and @J_Marquardt).. I think it's probably a reasonable request to ask for our own. Stay tuned.
RE: Refreshing the JMP brand in advance of JMP16Thanks to all the efforts!
Everything looks nice and fresh!
Wondering if there are any JMP official pictures that can be used as a background for online meeting.
