Add the functions for supporting Short Run SPC

Recently, I have recognized that many customers from the manufacturers of electronic components are struggling with applying control charts on their processes. "Short production runs and multiple products" are the important characteristics of their processes so traditional Shewhart control charts are not appropriate.

It would be very helpful for them if JMP has the functions for supporting Short Run SPC.

@ChulHee_JMP it would helpful if we had an example that illustrates the issue more clearly.

You can use Phases in control chart builder, and each phase can have it's own control limits. Does that meet the need that you describe?

@SamGardner Yes, user may use Phases as an alternative and temporal solution for this situation.

In my opinion, the Phase is a very appropriate function for indetifying if there is any differences of mean and variation among the phases which are set by user.

However, one of the assumptions of using the phase is "a process (or single population)." In other workds, the user usually want to make their process to show no differences among the phases. In many cases, finding the differences is one of the opportunities for process improvement as making a better one process.

In case of the situation of applying Short-run SPC, the populations are different because the targets and the specifications are different among products. Apparantely, means and the amounts of variation are different as well. A machine is processing same type of products having many (10s to 100s) different target/specs per day or per week. User wants to distinguish differences between process change and product change. To meet the needs, some experts had suggested to apply a standardization method using Z-distribution.

According to https://jmpdiscovery.atlassian.net/browse/JMP-8266, it looks like this feature has recently been completed in JMP 18. Perhaps @ChulHee_JMP knows some customers who may like to try it in a future EA?
