Combo box + check list in New display box

Hi,
Some users want to make a multi-selection function in the Combo Box like below.

There is almost same example in 'Java script Multi Selection' on the web.

This feature is strongly requested by SK Hynix. I'm not aware of any specific use cases. However, they said that this function is well implemented in most other System(Program) they use.

TBH, I'm not quite sure what behaviour is needed. But, in the meantime, one could do something similar to what's below, or a suitable refinement thereof. I'd be surprised if they didn't already know this, however . . .

Thank you for submitting your request.  We appreciate and review all feedback and input we receive, but after review by Development and Product Management, we have decided not to move forward with this request.   If you have additional details/information that was not originally part of the request that you believe should cause us to reconsider this decision, you can add additional comments on this item.  

By the way, I don't really like the "Declined" status, it doesn't sound nice, but that's the label we have now that fits the best.

Thanks for deep consideration for this wish.
Could you tell me the reason why declined ?
Their needs are as follows;
The part where ‘Combo box + Check list’ object is needed is because it takes up less space like Combo Box, 
but it requires an object that can select multiple items like Check Box.

After discussion with development, we felt that designing a new display element like what you suggest would be somewhat complex, and there are other current display and other programmatic approaches (such as what @ian_jmp described above) that gets close the desired functionality.  

I don't really like the "declined' status in our Wish List right now, what it really means is "not right now'.  We are going to be changing our status category levels soon in the system to better describe the status of a wish list item.
