What an interesting question:
How do I read HTTP response headers?
1) trivially answered, but
2) really well asked.
Because it has the perfect title, it will likely show up in google searches. It also got a quick answer because I could tell I should look at it.
There are probably a lot of questions like this, and I imagine our webmaster can identify them based on traffic from google.
Is there a way to prompt users to write better question titles? An award for "best asked question?"
"Every month we send a JMP coffee cup to the user that puts the best title on a question. Here are the most recent winners and a short explanation of why we think the title works so well."
I'd still like to have a way for non-signed in users to add a kudo/like/heart to a page that helps. I think that could also be used to put the best answers up front for a google search.
Compare to How to create banner , which took more time, but will almost certainly disappear into the heap because it isn't the way most people would ask "How can I add my company logo to a report?" I almost didn't look at it. Anybody remember Proc Banner from the green book? Great for Happy Birthday banners on a line printer.
Apparently arstechnica tests two titles to see which one gets the traffic. Could we encourage users to supply two titles for a question? It might be a good way to get someone to slow down and think about the value of a well written title.
