As our global teams work through the taxonomy project for our first list of core industries, I wanted to take a moment to ask for your review and feedback.
Finalizing The Knowledge Discovery:
Over the last few months, a team of our global industry, statistical and JMP experts came together to develop a knowledge repository which includes data on our core industries and the challenges scientists and engineers in those industries face. Additionally, top tasks were captured and how those map into our products and capabilities.
It was a big undertaking, but we’ve successfully made it out the other side and have a rich set of data we can use to move to the next step in the process.
Overview of where we are (video)
What are the process improvements we are trying to make?
- How best do current and not-yet JMP users to find themselves on our site and in our resources?
- How do we best align industry challenges in our core markets with JMP’s unique value proposition to solve those challenges?
- How can customers and users best work with JMP to maximize value they provide to their industry?
- How do we best quantify the impact JMP can have towards specific industry challenges or problem sets?
Deliverables:
- Data set: Definitions of industry, functional groups, products, and capabilities. These can also be viewed as labels. These labels will be used to tag content on jmp.com, on the community and in salesforce as a couple of examples.
- “Mapping”: How do all of these data relate and how they are interconnected.
Use Cases:
Some of the target use-cases include:
- Content Strategy: Helps set the priority and 80/20 for work being done mapping to these core industry data.
- Building a Quality System: Consistently applying standard labels to content aligned with these data to audit what we have, where the content gaps are, what needs to be updated etc.
- Onboarding and Upskilling Sales People: Continuation of PM sales training series and JMP Academy.
- Agile and Rapid Call Prep: “I am talking to someone in process development from the Chemical industry in 15 minutes. What is best to ask? Where would their most likely challenges lie?”
- Optimal Outreach: “I want to reach out to person x person on LinkedIn. What can I say, say and ask to optimize the potential for engagement and get a response?”
- Prepping for a marketing campaign, or building content: “What topics, analyses apply to this industry, group and what challenges do they have?”
- Digital Marketing: “We want to run ads in Linkedin for x group in the y industry. What should we say offer as a resource to maximize our KPIs?”
Always Thinking About Continuous Improvement
Iteration 1 of these data have been published to JMP Live Daily (you will need VPN and access to the JMP Live Daily server. We will get this migrated to JMP Live Sales soon). The ask? Take a few minutes to review this JMP Live report and provide feedback, particularly around:
- Is the information said in a way that is consistent with how sales teams engage with customers?
- Are there other filters, columns, information that we could add to this list that would make it more useful or impactful?
- As we continue to build out this project, is there other information that we can add in the second phase?
- Are there any other use-cases you can envision?
Please use the form at the top of the JMP Live report to share suggestions and feedback. The goal is to make this first learning cycle quick so that we can have a clear direction for improvements and where to take it from here.
Also, I don’t think I can say this enough - these taxonomy teams have been awesome in working together, spending the time to catalog and organize their deep industry knowledge into something that is useful, actionable and directly applicable to attainment of the process improvements we desire to make.
