add tagsthe add tags mechanism is confusing.
I thought it might be helpful to add tags to the two posts about updating elements in graph builder. I made one plural and the other singular and tried to fix it. It appears to actually replace all tags, not add more tags. It maybe adds the tags to some post within the thread, or maybe the original post. Then I started writing this and realized there is already a tag post in this forum suggesting there should be a small set of available tags.
I tagged this post "tags". Should I have used "tag" instead? I'd like the tag machine to collapse the singular and plural versions.
A venn diagram of several tags would be interesting if more posts had good tags: overlap of graphBuilder, elements, controlPanel for example.
I think a thread should be taggable, but individual replies within the thread don't need their own tags.
Re: add tagsWe made an initial effort to cleanup/consolidate some of the tags as noted in Tags . By design, tags are allowed on any post. Labels are only allowed on the initial post. Tags span the entire Community while labels are specific to the board.
Currently, only Super Users and JMP staff have the ability to add tags for the reasons you specified - what tag(s) to use - tag/tags/tagging/etc. The platform does not have any intelligence built-in to assist with consolidating similar tags so we need to manually do that.
We recently developed a component that would allow a user to select a tag in the same way one would select a product or label which would help with ensuring consistency.
We will start tagging JMP-created content (e.g. blog posts) with an industry-led taxonomy. If would be interested to know your thoughts on what tags you think would be helpful to the Community.
