Graph Builder iPad App with M1 MacsHey, does anyone know what happened to the Graph Builder app? I wanted to see if it would run on these new M1 Macs. They're supposed to be able to run iPad apps.
Thoughts?

Re: Graph Builder iPad App with M1 MacsHi Mike,
The iPad App was removed from the AppStore and from all supporting JMP pages/references in JMP 16.1. This was for a variety of reasons, including lack of customer demand and use, the challenges of maintaining, and growing performance issues.
See https://rndjira.sas.com/browse/JMP-605.
Sorry for the bad news!

Re: Graph Builder iPad App with M1 MacsI wonder if there is interest in revisiting it.
Given that you could conceivably charge for it on the App Store (there are apps in there that cost quite a lot) and get some revenue from people that can't buy full JMP, but would still like to have access to Graph Builder. Especially since Apple now provides a path to have the same code run on all their desktop and mobile products. (Of course I haven't a clue what would go into making that happen on our end).
Might provide an interesting little revenue stream if the economics are right.

Re: Graph Builder iPad App with M1 MacsMaybe, but not sure it would make it high up on the list for JMP 18 given other high-priority projects, feature requests, and the backlog bugs and technical debt.
Also, this is the first I've heard mention of it after removing support last year. Are customers asking about this?
Feel free to post a request in the internal wish list so others can chime in and we can capture for future consideration.
Thanks Mike!
Re: Graph Builder iPad App with M1 MacsHi Mike,
The app was removed a year or so ago. The users numbered in the few hundreds. So, considering it was free it was not advertising the larger product like we had hoped. We spent at least 3 developer years on producing that app. Most of the people who used it thought it was useful, but they wanted more of the fully featured JMP. Such an effort would be an enormous undertaking. You would likely need to charge $5,000 per copy to come away with anything near meeting our costs, and that is if you find a new audience that the free version never found.
One of the biggest issues for the iPad is getting data from a variety of sources other than Excel files on an iCloud drive somewhere. For instance, from an Oracle database. This presents unique, and unsolved, challenges on iOS.
So, I think it is unlikely we will revive this. Sorry to give you bad news, but I think it is worth noting why this failed so we don't continually revisit it.
