Welcome to the JMP Development Update for April 15, 2022!
Please note as shown in the screenshot above that this weekend is the third weekend maintenance cycle for SAS, so it’s possible we may have some outages in our large pool of physical machines, VMs, Jenkins, or other servers as a result of software updates and/or reboots of various systems. My team will be working through whatever remaining issues there are Monday morning to make sure that everything is back up and running as expected. Thanks in advance for your patience!
Hope you all had a chance to watch the quarterly update webcast. JMP had a great first quarter and I think we all should be proud of how we’ve supported customers to help make that happen – working on software releases, participating in Discovery Europe, helping with TS inquiries and customer crash reports, and responding to feedback from early adopters. Thanks for helping contribute to our success as a company!
We’ve got JMP 17 EA8 coming up in early May. We’ll cut EA9 in early July, and code freeze is planned for 7/20/22. Please continue to update your feature pages as needed to capture information on new and improved items to share with early adopters. Details and examples are very helpful as Hyde Miller works on training materials. Please finish up any remaining feature work as soon as possible and document late-breaking items on the Late Features page in Confluence. As always,
I’ll be glad to help moving items forward if you need batch updates in Jira. (I’ll be out next week, but will be glad to help the following week if needed.)
Thanks to product manager Bryan Fricke for presenting on the UX Workstream progress at yesterday’s JMP Dev meeting! If you missed the meeting, you can find a downloaded copy of the recording here. There were a lot of questions and comments during and after Bryan’s presentation – thanks to everyone who participated in the discussion! As John Sall noted in his comments, UX is an important initiative for JMP going forward, and we always need to keep our eyes open for opportunities. Thanks to Bryan for being willing to spearhead many of these efforts in collaboration with others in the UX workstream!
Thanks to Tonya Mauldin for sharing the details of Beta/Crash/Telemetry tracks for the last 2 weeks with crashes selected. They’re in JMP Live here: Beta/Crash/Telemetry Tracks for the weeks of 4/8/22 and 4/15/22 | JMP Live (sas.com)

Note from Shannon
If it seems like this spring pollen season is worse than ever, you’re not imagining it. Pollen seasons are starting weeks earlier and it appears that climate change is playing a role in this change. Here’s a recent story from WRAL that mentions that the Southeast and Pacific Northwest have been hit particularly hard. NPR posted this article yesterday focused on this topic. And if you’d rather get your news straight from the journal, here’s a PNAS article.
If you or your family members suffer from seasonal allergies, I hope you’ve found strategies that work for you to alleviate the symptoms! Have a great weekend!
