As of April 2022, the latest version of JMP is 16.2. The new version of JMP, 17.0, is scheduled to be released around October of this year.
JMP version change (update) is largely divided into Major/Minor Update. When updated to the latest version 16.2 -> 17.0, the change of 16 -> 17 in the front digit is called Major Update, and the change of .2 -> .0 after decimal places is called Minor Update.
JMP's Major Update includes adding new functions and strengthening existing functions, and the Minor Update's main purpose is to stabilize bug fixes.
JMP's Annual License customers can upgrade JMP's Major/Minor Update for free at no additional cost.
So, what is another difference between Major Update and Minor Update? In the case of Minor Update, it does not modify/change the previously set environment settings or personalized menus, as it overwrites the existing JMP program. However In case of major update by installing a new program Reinstalling existing environment settings, personalized menus/add-ins, etc. There is a hassle to do.
In the case of specific customers, environment settings and customized menus are sometimes distributed for unification (environment setting, report format, etc.) with customers/partners. Due to these business reasons and issues such as resetting of personalized menus, there are customers who cannot easily upgrade even when a new version of the function is released.
In this regard, we would like to provide personalized menus and methods of saving, restoring, and distributing environment settings.
