Cant connect JMP 12 to MS Access DB<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />I have tried connecting to an MS access local database under File -->database-->open table-->new connections-->file data source. No .mdb files appear to be selectable. If I click New DSN Name my only option is SQL server. My lab generates lots of these databases each year, so I'd like to know how to get the data into JMP directly, otherwise several conversion steps have to be completed.
Not sure what needs to be done to be able to read the .mdb file. I appreciate any help.

Re: Cant connect JMP 12 to MS Access DBCharlie,
The biggest disadvantage to downgrading could be that you lose access to any RAM you have above 4 Gb. I am guessing you have large data sets if you are pulling from a database and that could become an issue for you. That said, I have not talked to anyone who downgraded to 32 bit JMP on a 64 bit computer, but the RAM issue is something to keep in mind if you see a slow down in your file open and load time in JMP. Other than that JMP will be fully functional.

Re: Cant connect JMP 12 to MS Access DBHi Bill, is there any disadvantage to downgrading JMP12 to 32bit version? I would have to special order MSoffice 201364bit.

Re: Cant connect JMP 12 to MS Access DBHi Charlie,
One thing you need to be aware of is the "bitness" of your ODBC driver. If you are using 32 bit Access and 64 bit version of JMP you will not be able to connect directly. The reason I mention this is most Microsoft Office products are 32 bit out of the box. and most P&G computers are 64 bit and JMP installs according to your system unless otherwise directed.
So in short, make sure your bitness matches for your drivers and your version of JMP. Two options - you can purposely switch JMP to the 32 bit version or you can upgrade to Office 2013 64 bit.

Bill
Re: Cant connect JMP 12 to MS Access DBYou can, with an an ODBC driver v3+. I haven't used one in years, but it's commonly needed to link Access DBs.
Here's a link to Microsoft's drivers (note that it's v2.8 of the package...not sure what the driver version is itself)
MDAC
Or Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010

There's also third party ODBC drivers. Not sure what the best is, haven't used it in 8+ years.
