Would like to have the ability to script changes to order in which columns appear in Contour Profiler red-triangle axis drop downs. Full control over ordering would be nice. Would be enough to have options to use the order in which columns are in data-table (left-to-right) or alphabetical order, in addition to today's current behavior, which is the order in which terms are mentioned in the formula(s) being profiled.
In the use case triggering this, we have hundreds of columns coming in to formulas through "Expand Intermediate Formulas" and users are having a hard time finding the column they want via the popup box on the axis because the order is seemingly at random.
The intermediate/temporary fix is to manually list each column at the start of the Formula Editor, e.g.,
:Column 1; :Column 2; /* then put the desired formula */
But with hundreds of columns and the possibility that we may revise the formulas, this is rather tedious to maintain.
I tried to include code in the formula to use variants of Current Data Table() << Get Column Names but this does not work.
Already sent to Technical Support and was told a feature enhancement request is submitted.
JMP 16.1 Mac and Windows. Support confirmed also an issue in 16.2.
