Nouryon (30DEC2021 – EUR Chem T1)
Since its 2018 spinoff from Dutch multinational coatings manufacturer AkzoNobel, Nouryon Specialty Chemicals had had little contact with JMP. When in early 2021 EUR Chem T1 gained access, they began working with users leading Nouryon's Six Sigma initiative known as the Continuous Innovation Council.
"As Nouryon were still using JMP 12, the first challenge was showing them the benefits of JMP 16," recalls James Barkatullah. After rolling out an update to all 160 users, he says, the next step was to establish a series of JMP Days to demonstrate the many new features added since JMP 12. "This was a difficult task for Emmanuel as there are many differences between versions and the customer wanted all its JMP users to participate, so we couldn’t focus on challenges that were unique to any one group," James explains. But by proactively engaging with the central organization responsible for statistical training and data initiatives, the team was able to update the customer's JMP version and deliver huge value very quickly.
The second win came when, in reviewing the JMP Day registration records, James found evidence of incompliant usage of JMP: "Though Nouryon had a standard single-entity agreement, they were using JMP in 10 different countries!" he says, adding that the discrepancy suggested that advocates had little insight into where JMP was being used, and by whom. "We were able to update a very old agreement with many legacy terms and get the customer back into compliance whilst also using this process as a best practice moving forward to help them track their usage and ultimately have better visibility of their investments."
JMP Days organized by Maria Astals and Emmanuel Romeu played a pivotal role in both successes, he notes: "We not only obtained evidence of incompliant usage, but we ensured we were delivering value to the customer."
