1. Importing, Consolidating & Maximizing the Value of Excel Data (~30 min.) Christian Stopp with Martin Demel as backup (that means Martin doing it evening his time if Christian has something come up.)
Jan. 21
Workflow: DATA ACCESS
For what to include, see documentation:
https://www.jmp.com/support/help/en/16.1/#page/jmp/preview-and-import-microsoft-excel-data.shtml and https://www.jmp.com/support/help/en/16.1/#page/jmp/preview-and-import-microsoft-excel-data.shtml#ww703762 and https://www.jmp.com/support/help/en/16.1/#page/jmp/preview-and-import-microsoft-excel-data.shtml#ww702055
Description for customers:
Starting with simple worksheets and continuing through more complex and multiple worksheets, learn to use the Excel Import Wizard to preview and import from Excel into JMP. See a 30-minute demo and stay on if you want to join 15 minutes of Ask the Expert (Q&A) on this topic.
This session covers: importing Excel files, checking the imported data, setting JMP import preferences for Excel data; interactively handling hidden or merged cells, multiple or hierarchical headers, and other special situations; saving and restoring default settings and preferences.
NOTE: This session will not cover using the Excel JMP Add-In. However, the techniques used to maximize value can be applied to any JMP data table imported using the Excel JMP Add-In.
Note to SEs: The default info for Excel Preferences is incorrect in documentation. Settings are in Preferences>Third Party Data, not Preferences> General. Check imported data I think is by looking at Source Script. This check data text came from Martin Demel and not sure how he did it. Cover basics first, appropriate individual worksheet settings, then additional worksheet settings. Include more than one worksheet in data you will provide with Journal.
2. Preparing Your Data for Analysis (-30 min.)
Olivia Lippincott with Alisa Hunt-Lowery as backup.
Jan. 28

Not sure about including data filtering â is this more on the analysis side?
Description for customers:
Learn when and how to reorganize data tables to meet your analysis needs. Understand the column and row settings and attributes used by JMP to optimize information created by and viewed in graphical reports. See a 30-minute demo and stay on if you want to join 15-30 minutes of Topic Discussion and Q&A.
This session covers: editing data; finding and selecting values; changing column information; creating simple formulas; recoding and grouping data; setting column properties and attributes; subsetting and sorting; stacking and splitting columns; transposing rows and columns; joining, concatenating, and automatically updating tables. Understand the column and row settings and attributes used by JMP to optimize information created by and viewed in graphical reports.

3. Visualizing and Exploring Data (no modeling) (~30 min.)
Nick Shelton with Mark Zwald as backup
Feb. 4
Workflow: DATA EXPLORATION AND VISUALIZATION
Description for customers:
After your data is prepared for analysis, use JMP to interactively explore, uncover hidden relationships, and start understanding your data. Learn how to uncover relationships visually to identify and correct missing information, review key summary statistics, and examine subsets of interest uncovered during exploration. See a 30-minute demo and stay on if you want to join 15-30 minutes of Topic Discussion and Q&A.
This session covers: using Columns Viewer and Columns View Selector to see summary statistics; filtering and examining Distributions; organizing and summarizing to extract data from columns interactively; using Name Selection in Column to create a new column for data uncovered during exploration; examining patterns using graph Builder Bubble Plots and background maps; summarizing using Tabulate.
Note to SEs: The third part has been included in Basic Analysis below.
Old Version: https://community.jmp.com/t5/Mastering-JMP-Videos-and-Files/Exploratory-Data-Analysis-and-Dynamic-Graphs/ta-p/277684
4. Making Sense of Your Data Using Basic Analysis and Plotting (no import or cleanup) (~30)
Mark Zwald with Jason Higgins as backup
Feb. 11
Workflow: BASIC DATA ANALYSIS AND MODELING
Description for customers:
After visualizing relationships in your data, use basic analyses to statistically examine and evaluate relationships. See how to summarize tables and reorganize data, compare two variables using analyses and graphs that test and display differences among groups or across ranges, animate patterns over time, build simple models, and interpret model effects. See a 30-minute demo and stay on if you want to join 15-30 minutes of Topic Discussion and Q&A.
This session covers: using Table Summary, formulas and groups to reorganize data; using Fit Y by X to compare two variables using analyses that test differences among groups or across ranges; broadcasting commands across similar output in multiple window; overlaying plots to show, in same plot, different output by levels of a designated variable; hiding and excluding observations from graphs; performing single-factor (1-Way) ANOVA; using Connecting Letters Report to compare means.
This is covered in the ends of both of these:
https://community.jmp.com/t5/Mastering-JMP-Videos-and-Files/Exploratory-Data-Analysis-and-Dynamic-Graphs/ta-p/277684
https://community.jmp.com/t5/Mastering-JMP-Videos-and-Files/Basic-Analysis-and-Plotting/ta-p/312386
Note to SEs: No Bubble Plot or Graph Builder
5. Understanding and Analyzing Information Using Graph Builder (~30)
Maanasa Thyagarajan with Christian Stopp as backup
Feb. 18
Workflow: BASIC DATA ANALYSIS AND MODELING
For what to include, see documentation: https://www.jmp.com/support/help/en/16.1/#page/jmp/work-with-axes.shtml
