This is the last JMP Report coming from JMP as a division of SAS. When everyone returns to work in the new year, January’s JMP Report – and anything else related to JMP – will come from JMP Statistical Discovery LLC.
And you probably won’t even notice the difference.
While many people have been working hard to prepare for this transition, for the majority of you, it’s business as usual: developing, marketing, selling, and helping customers.
And our business is great. With only three days to go, JMP revenue has already passed $120M, surpassing our goal of $117M, and just as important, JMP is back to double-digit growth after a rough 2020.
As a reminder, I say we only have three days left in the year because all sales paperwork must be received by 5 pm (EST) on Dec. 23 if it is to be counted in revenue for 2021. Sales teams should refer to the email I sent on Nov. 18 for all the details on closing out the year.
Lastly, I’m looking forward to Kickoff 2022, Jan. 18-20. For three days, we will gather virtually to celebrate 2021’s successes and look toward new goals and challenges for 2022, including JMP’s transition into a fully formed subsidiary of SAS. These are exciting times, and I’m excited to share them with you.
Thanks for all you do for JMP.
Three months from now
JMP is starting to act like a company
- JMP's new HR, Finance and Legal departments will be staffed. Positions for support staff in those departments have been posted, and new hires are expected to join JMP in Q1.
- The process of migrating customer data from GIDB to Salesforce will be well underway.
- Discovery Summit Europe will be fast approaching. Customers from around the world will share stories and ideas for how JMP helps them with their business, their research, and their…discoveries.
- Agreements will have been signed with NetSuite so that the implementation of JMP’s ERP can begin.
- JMP contract lifecycle management (CLM) implementation will be well underway; the same is true for a JMP customer identity system to replace SAS Profile.
Six months from now
Real progress is made on customer-facing systems
- JMP expects to have a fully functioning ERP (NetSuite) in place to handle all the functions needed to process contracts, invoicing, pricing, and product lists to keep the business running as JMP transitions away from SAS systems.
- JMP will have implemented a customer identity system to replace SAS Profile, which may help address many customer frustrations with the JMP trial and individual subscriptions.
- New order forms for US customers will be executed by the JMP CLM system, a DocuSign-based system that allows digital signatures of agreements, thus greatly simplifying the ways to contract JMP.

A year from now
Readiness as a standalone company
- JMP 17 will have been released to wide acclaim, while the work on JMP 18 begins.
- Corporate subscriptions will be available to all customers worldwide (except in certain countries where this type of license is not permitted).
- JMP CLM will be available for all new customer agreements (except in certain countries where use of the order form agreement is not permitted).
- JMP customer-facing systems will be fully separate from SAS around the world. JMP will be fully separate from Orion and GIDB for any new contracts. Salesforce will be the business operational nexus for customer interactions.
- JMP will have a plan to “right size” systems and processes for a ≈$200M (TSR) company.
- JMP will be ready to stand up customer-facing business systems in early 2023.
In the rearview mirror
