Last week the team in Japan hosted a successful Discovery Summit. This was the eighth Discovery Summit Japan and the second to be held online. The event drew more than 1,000 registrants.
There were many highlights:
Plenary session with John Sall (@John_Sall) on Delicate Brute Force. The team arranged for professional voice actor Michael Sandel to voice over John’s session, rather than an interpreter. The outcome was an engaging and passionate version of his talk in Japanese.
Atsuko Iono records a voice over.Atsuko Iono records a voice over.JMP marketers provided voice overs too – Atsuko Iono (@AtsukoI_Japan) for Julia O’Neill lead statistician at Moderna and Sachiko Ishibashi (@sachiko_ishibas) for Anne Milley (@anne_milley) of JMP.
Plenary session with William Q. Meeker, plus a special interview with Dr. Meeker conducted by Chris Gotwalt (@chris_gotwalt1).
Twenty-one live sessions – all including Q&A, which provided a great opportunity for speakers to receive feedback and for attendees to get answers. Presenters represented universities, research organizations, laboratories, hospital systems, information technology and consultancies:
Tokyo University of Science

Meet the Experts – the first virtual session of its kind at a Discovery Summit Japan! JMP experts spoke with customers in five different breakout rooms, which were active with inquiries and conversation.
“It was great to hear about the challenges, successes and suggestions our customers in Japan had for analyzing data, overcoming organizational hurdles to adoption and interest in what is to come in new versions of JMP,” said Dan Valente (@Daniel_Valente), Product Management. “Since our product development roadmap is driven so much by the voice of the customer, interactions like this are important for the product management and R&D teams as we prioritize improvements, additions and new capabilities in future versions of JMP.”
