JMP Product Management builds the vision and roadmap for the JMP family of products. The team is also a liaison between customers and R&D to stay in touch with how people use JMP today and how they want to use it better in the future. They maintain JMP Live instances and gather customer feedback; manage the Partner Program; lead product marketing, including consistent messaging and sales training; oversee JMP usability efforts; and much more.

Year in Review
In 2021, the team focused on process, using systems like Confluence to keep track of projects and goals. They are dedicated to working with:
- Consistency – developing standard processes and best practices for working with customers, development and other groups internally.
- Transparency – documenting projects and how they align with JMP business goals.
- Accountability – staying on top of project status and completion, which is especially important because their projects involve many people in other groups.
“I’m impressed with the high-value, broad-impact initiatives the team has worked on this year, all of which will move us toward our goal of having 1 million users by 2025,” says Dan Valente, Manager of the Product Management team.

What to Look for in 2022
In 2022, the PM team will be getting ready for a successful JMP 17 launch and rolling out initiatives to:
- Work to execute on a five-year vision for the JMP product family.
- Position JMP as an enterprise solution.
- Build out the sales training series.
- Get JMP Live in more accounts to drive account expansion and user growth.
- Evaluate hosting options to reduce costs and simplify the creation of JMP Live instances.
- Manage the STIPS roadmap.
- Continue projects to support account expansion, including the JMP Workflow, Analytics Advocates Guide and industry product marketing efforts.
- Plan for JMP 18 with focus on expanding data connectors, improving workflow building, growing JMP Live’s capabilities for data refreshing and scheduling server-side, and improving the UX and consistency within the product.
“As we look towards the future and our desire to grow our user base to 1 million by 2025, we need to focus on the big problems – problems that cross all the industries that JMP serves. Our customers need to easily access data no matter where it is, clean it up and get it ready for analysis,” explains Dan.
“They need to solve increasingly complex problems, including wide problems, and automate the entire process so they can focus on innovation, problem solving and discovering new things in an increasingly competitive and complex work environment. They want to be able to install JMP near their data – increasingly on cloud providers that offer nonpersistent application virtualization services. Or they prefer to use JMP on virtual machines that offer more RAM than typical desktop machines to solve bigger analytical problems.
“Product improvements alone will not get us to our 1 million user goal. To accelerate this growth, we must position the JMP Workflow, the value of JMP Live and how JMP solves problems in our customers’ industries. And we must strategically partner with organizations that want to solve problems and believe that analytics can help. By providing strategic interventions to analytics advocates in high-growth potential accounts, we can achieve user growth faster. By partnering with strong analytics advocates, we can accelerate account growth and work to maximize the adoption of JMP broadly across an organization.”
