"As we all know, community is very important to JMP. But it's also equally important to our users," says Bernard McKeown (@bernard_mckeown), AE for the Nordics. "Connecting people from different companies and industries has a positive effect on growth. That's why it felt like a priority to set up a user meeting: we wanted to foster a sense of community across the region." While the Nordic Territory encompasses 5 countries (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden), JMP use in the region has traditionally been heavily centered in Denmark, Bernard explains.
After enlisting help from Maria Astals Serés (@maria_astals) in Customer Enablement, the pair identified key users from all five countries to form the user group's inaugural steering committee. Creating a diverse group was a priority, he says; "We wanted to inspire JMP use in all countries to grow faster -- not just in Denmark. And because the steering committee consists of individuals that we are developing into Analytics Advocates, we hope it will have a profound effect on the adoption of JMP in their companies."
First on the agenda of the new Nordic User Group was to hold an open discussion of the opportunities and barriers to adopting analytics in general -- and JMP in particular. "Maria organized a fantastic event that included a great presentation on end-to-end analytics from Murata," Bernard says, adding that you can find the presentations and discussion in the Community.
The committee plans to hold shorter virtual user group meetings more frequently to continue community development efforts. They also want to bridge the gap between academia and industry, so Volker Kraft (@volker_kraft) is working with them to support the next session. Watch this space!
