Ube Industries (31AUG2021 – Japan T6 West)
One of the biggest chemical manufacturers in Japan, Ube Industries, has been a JMP customer for over a decade with its 108 licenses used across various departments for product development, manufacturing process optimization and quality control. By early 2021, however, the company was still using an alternative tool to run machine learning.
The limitations of that tool were becoming increasingly apparent as Ube Industries continued to adopt more sophisticated analytics approaches. Among other issues, the existing system lacked the capacity to process enough data to build a highly predictive model. Moreover, the tool had no function for handling time series data – a feature Ube Industries very much needed.
By demonstrating how JMP Pro – and Functional Data Explorer in particular – could resolve those issues, Japan Team 6 persuaded Ube Industries to upgrade. Not only would JMP Pro expand its machine learning capacity, but it would also be easy for its users, who were already familiar with JMP, to learn and adopt. Moving forward, Ube Industries plans to use both JMP Pro and JMP to solve wide-ranging data challenges.
