Wondering what Winter Thanks is? We're happy to tell you!
It’s an annual event in early to mid-December where JMP employees bake and cook and do nice things for the people in other SAS divisions who support JMP. The tradition began in 2008, and has grown every year since. Well, it grew and grew until Covid-19 got in the way, forcing the 2020 and now the 2021 Winter Thanks to be virtual.
This year is special because it might just be the last year. Why? Because as JMP moves into a new era of leaning on SAS less and less, we’ll have fewer and fewer people to thank. Things will be different next year, so let’s make this year’s Winter Thanks very special for our friends and colleagues on the SAS side who have been so very wonderful to work with.
What's the plan? On Tuesday, Dec. 14, all JMP employees are encouraged to send a kind note to the SAS employees who have been helpful this year. In your note, include the special URL (stay tuned for what that is) and invite the recipient to explore the page. There they will find several videos: A message from John Sall, the story of Winter Thanks, and at least one musical video.
I said "one or more musical video" because we are working to create a couple JMP-made musical videos.
And here’s how YOU can help right now: Record yourself (video and audio) on your computer or with your iPhone singing “That’s what Friends are For.” Follow along to the Karaoke version. Feel free to sing all the parts or just the ones you’re most comfortable with. When you have a version you like, please upload it to this OneDrive folder.
