Annie Zangi is approaching 25 years of JMP service and nearly 30 years at SAS.
Annie (@AnnieDudley) was originally hired by John Sall as the only tester for JMP (version 3) and has also worked in Tech Support on behalf of JMP. She is now best known as the Senior Research Statistician Developer behind the Control Chart Builder platform. We value and celebrate our colleague for her many contributions!
Annie recently cut her hair and donated it to "Wigs for Kids."Annie recently cut her hair and donated it to "Wigs for Kids."Annie recently cut her hair and donated it to "Wigs for Kids."Annie has both an undergraduate degree and a master's degree in statistics from Virginia Tech. In high school, Annie's father bought a farm. Before ever taking a statistics course, she convinced him to try different combinations of strawberry varieties and farming methods in a systematic, but randomized order. In her fourth year of college, Annie took a design of experiments course and learned she had used a split-plot design.
"Personally, I wish I had studied statistics in primary school," says Annie. "While I later learned I was running sound experimental designs, I was sometimes not analyzing them efficiently or correctly. If I had the right tools, I think I would have made it much further in science. I think it’s important for everyone to have a statistical education sufficient enough to be able to apply it as easily as they would math or reading."
For fun, Annie is a master gardener and says: "I will probably always love gardening and still continue to run my little experiments to see which species and varieties grow better in different conditions."
It looks like statistics and experimentation come naturally to Annie! Let's get to know more about her...
