[Announcement summary]
Shiga University has established Japan's first Faculty of Data Science (hereinafter referred to as "DS") and Graduate School of DS, and has established a system to train human resources who can create value from data from the literacy level to the expert level. Graduates and graduates are highly evaluated by companies that have DS / AI utilization issues. Since 2016, as one of the consortiums for strengthening mathematical and DS education, we have been promoting various base school cooperation projects such as skill set development, provision of teaching materials, and FD training.
In the DS Faculty, the first place for students to practice statistical methods using dedicated software and data is the lessons held in the first half of the second year in an exercise format. Students practice the methods learned in the classroom during their first year, set their own themes, and make presentations. One of the learning software is JMP, which can be used even if it is installed on the student's personal computer, so it is possible to work at home and it is also suitable for online lesson format.
In this presentation, 1. Shiga University DS Undergraduate / Graduate Curriculum, 2. Positioning of classes using JMP in the DS Faculty Curriculum, 3. The content of the exercise, and 4. Introducing the relationship with the Consortium for Strengthening Mathematical and DS Education.
