JMP Brainstorm Recap
Thank you to everyone who participated in the JMP-wide brainstorm session. We had a dynamic conversation about the ways that we can make our company better. Here's a recap.

Engineers at Lumentum, a manufacturer of components that enable fast optical networks for streaming video, cloud computing, VoIP and other high-speed and bandwidth-intensive applications, knew they were missing the full value of their complex functional data streams. With the guidance of UK Team 2, a VP and two internal advocates, they learned how to address this issue with Functional Data Explorer in JMP Pro.

SK Battery America (14SEP2021 – US Southeast)
There's been a lot of press lately around SK Battery America's construction of a $2.6 billion factory where the South Korean manufacturer plans to produce EV batteries for Ford and Volkswagen's all-electric vehicles. Initially threatened by IP infringement from LG, the company broke ground – and announced an aggressive round of hiring (~1000) – earlier this year following an out-of-court settlement.
"As this was a new logo, we had limited knowledge of the business and no existing champions, coaches or contacts at the account," explains Brian Washington. "Instead, our team identified the positions within SKBA that likely used data analysis, created targeted messages for each position respective to the automotive industry, and reached out via LinkedIn InMail to process and quality engineers."
Of the 20+ messages sent, only one returned a response from the company's Manager of Quality Engineering, Mr. Kim. "We knew this was our only chance at the account and, given they likely already had Minitab, needed to quickly capture attention and create sustained interest," Brian explains. "During initial discovery calls, we immediately introduced 'novel' concepts and subtly differentiated JMP, instead of comparing common features with Minitab. Kim became more interested and began opening up about other areas of improvement, even inviting a few of his engineers – some of whom had initially ignored our InMail – to join and share."
By the end of discovery, SKBA indicated they would purchase five licenses in Q1 2022 and that a product demo was not necessary. "We sent a tailored proposal that outlined pricing and the specific value proposition of JMP, and agreed to touch base again at the end of the summer. During my follow-up in August, Mr. Kim informed us that he instead wanted to purchase 10 licenses and move forward as soon as possible," Brian adds. Key aspects of this value proposition include streamlining capability analyses, narrowing the search for high impact variables via Predictor Screening, and performing custom DOE to include continuous, categorical, and mixture variables in a single experiment.

Company Confidential: Sandia National Laboratories
After eight years using a risk-and-issues management tool that captured records as cumbersome freeform text, Sandia’s leadership realized that little analysis had actually been done. When the organization’s Contractor Assurance Group was tasked with developing a more effective tool, they relied heavily on JMP Text Explorer to process historical text data using latent semantic analysis with singular value decomposition.
Please Share Your Feedback for the Analytics Advocate Guide
We're in the process of developing a new Analytics Advocate Guide, which is meant to serve as a roadmap for our advocates. In it, we explore the key steps in driving analytic adoption, paint a picture of what analytic excellence looks like and demonstrate how JMP supports advocates and organizations along the way to analytics enablement. Read more about the project on InsideJMP and submit feedback by commenting on the post or emailing Sara Doudt by the November 15 deadline.
If you missed this week's training, Helping Champions Drive Analytic Growth in Their Organization, we encourage you to watch the recording and join the discussion on InsideJMP. In addition to Sara Doudt's overview of efforts to develop a more robust advocate program, Sarah Springer shared how the JMP Premier Team has nurtured advocates at ExxonMobil – including the development of an internal JMP user newsletter you can read as the latest installment of the Company Confidential series.
