This video is part of a series of three presentations for the pharmaceutical industry. JMP statistical software is extremely useful in almost every aspect of the drug industry, from development, clinical trials and production.
The video below introduces the topic and gives you a high-level view of how JMP is used in the pharmaceutical industry.
In this first session, we present design of experiments, modeling of a process, as well as the optimization of the process from a statistical model.
Imagine that we are part of a biotechnology company that wants to maximize the performance of an extraction process. The objective is to obtain a yield of 45 mg / cl.
To investigate and optimize the extraction process, we used a custom design of experiments with six factors:
- Four solvents: methanol, ethanol, propanol, butanol
- Two process variables: pH, time in solvent
This design also has a linear restriction: The sum of the four solvents must be less than 10 ml / cl.
The following video shows the detailed steps to optimize the extraction process using JMP.
In the next video, we will see how JMP is used in drug manufacturing - visual exploration of manufacturing data, and how to use data mining and machine learning for root cause analysis.
