Welcome to the JMP Development Update for October 29, 2021!
This week we bid a fond farewell to Chung-Wei Ng, one of the original 4 in JMP development! She is retiring on 10/31 and took the last few days of this week off. Here’s a great picture from a past Holiday lunch in building T. Thanks, Mandy, for sharing and also for rounding up participants for Ryan Dewitt’s farewell video creation! You can check it out in this a article on Inside JMP.

Dan Schikore created this word cloud of Chung-Wei’s changelist descriptions since we started using Perforce in the early 2000’s, and Xan Gregg contributed this packed bar view of the data. Hopefully Chung-Wei will stop by for lunch from time to time! I’m still determined to recruit her for the EA program.

Speaking of EAs, thanks for keeping your feature pages up to date throughout the cycle! Please add information you’d like to highlight in JMP 17 EA4 to feature pages by November 8, and send new EA videos to Mia by Nov 10.
As we prepare for finalizing both JMP 17 EA4 and JMP 16.2, several of the testers in Cary and Beijing are engaged in Early Installer Testing of both releases. The EA4 early testing involves verifying the connections to the new AWS instances of Help and Crash servers that we’ll use for the first time with EA4. So far, the connections appear to function as expected.
The JMP 16.2 effort has two major goals: first, to check all the installers and look for things that might cause us to need to rebuild (version numbers, copyrights, codesign, third-party files); second, to run through all major functionality, especially interactive features that we want to be sure are working well (printing, dynamic linking, mouse tools, helpkeys, menu customization). This installer pre-flight check helps us identify and resolve issues earlier so that JMP teams can validate Final Image Candidates faster at the very end of the cycle.
Thanks to Tonya for sharing this week’s details about Beta/crash/telemetry tracks with crashes selected. JMP Live report here: Beta/Crash/Telemetry tracks for the week of 10/29/2021 | JMP Live (sas.com).

HTML5
- Bryan F: Fixed the following defects:

Note from Shannon
Bryan Fricke was kind enough to let me share this cute pic of his daughter Elise dressed as Umbreon (a Pokemon, for those of you who are not in the know). Hope all the kids out there both young and old enjoy Halloween!

Her costume is much better than this one…lesson learned! Have a fun and not-too-scary Halloween weekend!
