Wherever you are in the world, you’re probably aware that Halloween is coming up. And for many of you, there’s a good chance you’ll be celebrating the holiday in some way. Perhaps you’ll be going to a costume party. Maybe neighborhood children will trick-or-treat from door to door. Pumpkin patches, haunted houses and scary decorations may be in store for a lot of JMPers.
Halloween is one of the world’s oldest holidays. “Although it's derived from ancient festivals and religious rituals, Halloween is still widely celebrated today in a number of countries around the globe. In countries such as Ireland, Canada and the United States, traditions include costume parties, trick-or-treating, pranks and games. Versions of the holiday are celebrated elsewhere, too. In Mexico and other Latin American countries, Día de los Muertos—the Day of the Dead—honors deceased loved ones and ancestors. In England, Guy Fawkes Day, which falls on November 5, is commemorated with bonfires and fireworks.” – History.com

The holiday has certainly been fun for JMP employees in Cary. Over the years, many staffers have participated in costume contests and other Halloween celebrations. Like last year, we can’t be together to carry on the tradition of dressing up as a group. But we can share photos of Halloweens past and present. And that might give us ideas for celebrating JMP Halloweens in the future.
In the comment box below, simply upload a photo of you, your colleagues and/or your family celebrating Halloween in some way. It could be this year, last year, the year before...you get the idea. Be sure to tell us who the people are, how old the photo is and what they’re doing. Feel free to show and tell us about regional traditions; this can be fun and informational!

Some years the headquarters Halloween party was themed. And the television-themed year (2015) inspired a lot of great costumes. The American version of “The Office” television show was so popular with JMP staff that JMPers imitated that office team for a day – and they did it quite impressively.

Another tight-knit cast of characters is from “30 Rock,” which is represented by JMP global marketers pretty realistically.

Many JMP employees watched “Mad Men” every week, as the characters drank and smoked their way through their workdays writing for an American ad agency of the 1960s. Some JMPers liked the show so much they tried it out for a day.

Years ago, several Inside Sales representatives in Cary came to work as inmates – and a correction’s officer – from the “Orange is the New Black” television series.

One of the scariest Halloweens was in 2018 when several JMPers dressed up as characters from “The Handmaid’s Tale” television show based on Margaret Attwood’s dystopian book by the same name.

In 2017, the theme in Cary was to come a “work of art,” which inspired members of our R&D staff to expand upon René Magritte’s “The Son of Man.”

The JMP floor became Harry Potter world in 2016 when much of R&D dressed up as characters from the Harry Potter series of books and movies. Don’t miss John Sall as Albus Dumbledore in the back row.
The group themes make me smile
So creative!
I'm so lucky to work with people who like to have fun! Thanks for sharing.

Here's Sig and me in our "Stranger Things" costumes. Happy Halloween from Baltimore!

Here is Luna in her WonderDog costume--she's not liking the headpiece.
Haha @anne_milley! She looks downright angry, but she is definitely a Wonder Dog to tolerate the costumer at all!
Yes, @arati_mejdal, you know she has a range of expressions!
Luna looks great @anne_milley but Shannon Conners won that contest a few years ago.

And for those of you who didn't get to see John Sall dressed as the Harry Potter main wizard, Albus Dumbledore, here you go.
Love these! Had not seen Shannon Connors' Wonder Woman costume--she so looks the part, @Diana_Levey! Happy Halloween weekend, All!

Let's keep Halloween going! Check out this fun Halloween candy dashboard that @andyzhou and I worked on. The data came from the candy hauls of the children of @J_Marquardt, @Ryan_Lekivetz, @nina_chan, @AllisonHines and @clay_barker. Thanks to these parents for sending in the data! https://public.jmp.com/packages/z_1nK01SCpZqpqfCkq8sh#details
Yikes @calking -- that adorable baby shark got you good. Love this family costume. Tells a whole story.
My daughter wearing her homemade Dragon costume for handing out candy...

Tony decided to go as a Stormtrooper
Hazel was Superpup

This is me with my two grandsons. Lennon is Goofy. And Emerson is a squid. He just LOVES sea creatures and his mom found the perfect costume! I went as Emerson's favorite superhero.
