Rice University (JAN2021 – US CAN Academic)
Rice University is known for its highly respected schools of architecture, business, engineering, humanities, math and social sciences. The university has produced a significant number of astronauts and space scientists; CEOs and founders of Fortune 500 companies; cabinet secretaries and judges; and two winners of the Nobel Prize.
Rice University canceled its departmental license several years ago due to budgetary constraints and a push to teach with free tools. However, the free tools were not easy to use, and faculty members didn't want to teach students how to code. With the influence of two faculty champions in the social sciences department and business school, the Academic team helped Rice acquire a JMP Academic Suite campus license in January 2021.

Discovery Summit Americas 2021
Steering committee members called it the best online conference they'd attended in the past 18 months. “JMP’s passion and excitement for its products and community still came through,” said Jennifer Eigo, University of Connecticut. The steering committee member added that the conference was “very welcoming, even virtually. JMP is to be commended, it’s a tough thing to do.” Read the recap.

Citizen science initiatives are generating an unprecedented quantity of wildlife data. As a result, conservation biologists can now look to sophisticated statistical approaches like machine learning to improve the survival of species threatened by global change.
Riffyn & Imperial College London
Researchers at Imperial College London used the intelligent process development software Riffyn Nexus in concert with its JMP add-in to develop and validate a novel qPCR diagnostic assay for SARS-CoV-2 within just 9 weeks in early 2020. Ultimately, the NHS ran more than 700,000 tests based on this innovation last year alone, in addition to over 100,000 at Imperial College London.

The La Brea Tar Pits
By mapping species physiology data from the fossil record to a timeline of known climate events, paleontologists hope to see how climate may correlate with the microevolutions they observe within a given population. To do so, they look to collections like that of La Brea, where each specimen of Ice Age megafauna can be meticulously measured, radiocarbon dated and catalogued. Statistical analysis in JMP is critical to ensuring each individual is correctly classified.
